Hi everyone !
I'm currently learning (hopefully ) about this *huge* subject that is electronic music production.
An advice I've often read on the web was to "rebuilt" a music track on your sequencer.
As most of the music I listen to is (still?) way to complex (tons of effect i can't identify, sounds I don't understand how to create, samples I don't know where I could get) for me to recreate by myself, I'd like to know if you'd have an idea about an artist/track which isn't too hard to "understand" for a beginner like me...
Thank you guys ! |

Why not just pick a song you personally like, that way if you get closer to recreating it, your efforts will have been towards making a style you enjoy.
No point doing a copy of an easy song you don't even like.
You'll never recreate a song perfectly (or perhaps even come close) because you'll never know what synths, effects, samples, EQ was used.
I'd start with the Mixing inside the Box tutorial that was on the dogsonacid forum (It was posted here somewhere, try the search)
That will get you started about how to pick and mix sounds, then its up to you what sounds you use - if you copy, you'll end up being just another clone. Make up your own sounds and be unique.
There are are plenty of 'how do I make this sound' threads on Isra if you search or trawl through all the old pages - that'll help with some of the more popular and standard psy sounds. |

I suppose the tutorial you're refering to is "Thinking inside the box" ?
If this is the right one, I'm reading it right now, and I must say it's one of the best tutorial I've read so far !
Thanks a lot for the advice |

Very noobish question :
Is there (rethorical question hopefully) a plugin which would allow me to check if my "box" is filled correctly regarding the frequencies ? Is that what a spectrum analyser is used for ? |

I know that my ears are going to be the ultimate judge, but as I regard myself as a noob right now, a soft like this will help me begin to trust them
Thanks for the links Mtz, I'm learning on Live!, but I have a bit of knowledge with Cubase so I'll still check the file out ! |
