Words won't do this experience justice, but I'll give it a shot.

I will start by saying that this was the best event I've ever been to or been a part of. If there wasn't any negativity the universe might have collapsed because this event was so positive. I had so many great conversations, met so many great new people, got to see many good friends I haven't seen in a while. I'll write my experience chronically so I hopefully don't leave anything out.

Thursday night I got there, very happy to see Tyler and Ben making it. Felix and the rest of the sound crew was there and we got things going right away. I can't say enough how awesome of a person and sound engineer Felix is. If you've even just been to a show he's done you owe him a big hug. This man is a machine. He is very professional, organized and precise. He works with a great crew also who, like I, have come to trust him completely. There's no bs with felix, he'll tell you like it is and expect you to do the same. Airyck and I, and eventually more people, set up the dome thursday night as well, which was quite the experience, but we got it up and it stayed up . Working with Airyck is always a great time, laughing about who knows what and sharing knowledge is always fun.

Friday was a ton of work and plenty of things went right and wrong. This was the real testament to how awesome felix is. Speakers got wet, he got started on drying them immediately. There were some issues with the power, and felix had brought 2 generators. Huge disasters completely avoided thanks to felix. Felix was also able to do a full sound check in like 1/8 the time it usually takes. The rest of friday went smoothly getting everything setup. Jerry was awesome to have some other people there to help out with things like driving around to place trash cans- this helped tons. Friday night was fun and still hectic. I was very pleased with my dj set. My tracks sounded nice on the big system and I got some good ideas and compliments which all helped. It's been really awesome to hear the Tomatoes sound progress throughout this year- they just keep getting better. Mike and Nate played great sets that night too. I only caught a bit of Niki's set, but what I heard was really good.

Saturday morning I got to hear some of Blake, Scott and Derek's sets- all of which were really good. The ~20 minutes of Scott's I heard was great, I knew I'd be sad to not get to hear more of it. Carli played a really nice chill set too- huge props! I was very happy with my first live set I've done myself. I had practiced a few times and it ended up sounding the way I wanted it too. Workshops looked great, a good number of people seemed to be participating which is always good. The production workshop was fun, I learned a lot of good things the 15 minutes I was there. Aligning Minds and Electrypnose played awesome sunday afternoon sets. The prayer for peace was amazing. I was really moved standing next to Electrypnose and Jellyheadz, watching everyone hold hands during the prayer. I was glad that everyone participated in the group OM as well . Saturday night was going well, had a lot of fun times chatting with people around the camp and at the front gate. The burn ceremony was great. Abe and Liz did a great job organizing it and Allen build an awesome effigy. Tim's set was great, my kind of techno! Abe and Vince played awesome, powerful sets. I heard tons of great things about the dubstep being played. It was quite hectic once the cops came. Tyler is the reason why we didn't have to move the stage to the barn. He is seriously amazing- I probably told him a hundred times, but I am sooooo glad he made it to the event. Things would not have run nearly as smoothly if he was not there. Although the situation sucked, every kept their spirits up and were able to enjoy the quite music we had and enjoy each others company. Nick, Scott and I shared some much needed hilarious moments that night. Igor and I had some great talks and experiences as well. I was in a pretty sour mood after all that had happened, but Emily showed up and really cheered me up with some more hilarity. Seriously, thank you guys! I really really love our scene, everyone I talked to only had positive things to say even when there was no music playing. I seriously almost started crying I was so moved by everyone's positive attitudes. Sunday morning turned out to be epic. Brad and Saundra are so wonderful for playing the final quiet spot so the djs we flew in were able to play at a louder volume. Coral- I knew she was the right person to pick and she freakin rocked it. I have loved hearing her dj the past years and am so glad to share her positive personality with my midwest family. Nick Synergy rocked out the ending set, great track selection and some awesome and creative djing . Teardown went well, we got lots of help from people there taking down deco, moving equipment and ending with tearing down the dome. The grounds were clean so thank you to everyone for throwing away trash properly.

Thank you thank you thank you everyone, you all are the reason why I will continue to do these events for as long as I can and why I will always put my best effort into all of them. Every event has been a reaffirmation that this is what I love doing. All MOP members helped out a lot. Thanks Blake and Mallory for taking the donations to the crisis center. Thanks Abe for helping with the planning process. Thanks Nick for always being there to lend a helping hand.

Thank you Tyler- You have helped me out in so many ways for so long I can't even begin to describe it. You continue to impress me with your party handling skills and everything I have learned from you has helped me out tremendously.

Thank you Derek and Carli- I freaking love you guys. You always have a way of adding a special element to our events and are always around to lend a hand wherever needed.

Thank you Igor- You have a very special way of making sure things are running well and managing a lot of people and tasks. You are a master planner and just have a way of getting things done right at events.

Thank you Scott- You already know how much you rock, so I don't need to say much. Just like Igor, you simply have a knack for getting things done right at events. I have learned so much from you and it has been very easy to coordinate event plans with you.           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

someone walked past my tent at one moment and was talking about the 'two drunk chicks that danced all day' and I was like YEAHHH!! NC represent!!! The people you have at your parties are nuts. The midwest has a quality stock of weirdos unlike any I have ever seen. it must be in the curn.

it was nice (with all due respect to our local ladies) to have some gals that can rock the dance floor most the time with the boys, we lost our last one to Israel/Russia that could really hold space. I never got around to saying hi but definitely was awesome to get to see Aron!

Kinda funny though, the most naked people (other than burning man of course) I see dancing is usually in Asheville. Maybe I just hit the right party

It was just Karim. Unfortunately most of his set had to be played at a quiet volume due to the cops coming and turning us down.

His set was good, he played a lot of old stuff and managed to piss me off a lot by turning the volume up over and over again :-/           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

my honest opinion. indeed. he was pissing me off A LOT by turning the volume up over and over again. it was like he thought it would be a funny joke to get the party completely shut down. The cops were being nice by letting us play at a quiet volume at all. It was very rude for him to keep doing that even though we were begging and pleading for him to stop.

as for his set, it was really nice to hear all of the old goodies but I kinda wanted something new and exciting. at moments I felt like I was listening to a favorite cd or something. I'm not sure if anyone else felt this way. I would be dancing and my ears would perk and think "Oh yay this one..." but then it'd just keep happening over and over. There wasn't much variety. Pretty sure I heard the same song more than once. I think if his set hadn't been disturbed by the cops it would have been different but I found it to be a bit boring.

i just wanted to say Thanks to everyone that helped make this happen in any way, shape, or form. from vendors to workshops, from musicians to artists, from organizers to spectators... THANK YOU EVERYONE that helped make this happen.

special thanks to Jerry also for being such an awesome guy... i can't believe how awesome that man is...

i also wanted to apologize that neither Jerry nor I had contacted the Sheriff's department to give them a head's up about this event. As with Fractal Fields, Jerry had planned on contacting the sheriff's department a few days prior to the event, but unfortunately he did not get around to it this time, and I made the mistake of not following up on this to ensure that the Sheriff was contacted. From now on, I promise that i will be personally contacting the Sheriff's department before we have any future events at Jerry's farm, even if Jerry has already contacted them. I want the sheriff's department to know that we have nothing to hide, and that if we ever need their assistance, that we would surely contact them.

Apologies go out to anyone that experienced any negativity or bad vibes from the presence of the law enforcement and their attitudes... i hope that better communication with them before future events will resolve this matter for good.

The music was amazing, the art was amazing, the PEOPLE were AMAZING. people from all over! thanks for coming everoyne, thanks for spending the weekend with us Midwest folk!

The highlight of this event for me was the PRAYER FOR PEACE. there had to be 200+ people (at least) holding hands, synchronizing their intentions, emitting thoughts of peace, hopes of peace, prayers of peace... during that moment, i had chills going up and down my spine, all along my limbs, the hair on my neck was standing up, and i couldnt stop the feeling of being part of something so much greater than myself or anyone person. totally caught in the moment of combined intentions, combined energies, combined consciousnesses... totally devoting ourselves towards connecting on a deeper level, sending hope and love out into the world, and manifesting the true intention of the event in such a vivid, powerful, and tribal way. During those moments, I was able to realize, yet again, that the world is in great hands because of all the great people in it. We are so strong when we work together, and to see how many people cared to participate in the globally-synchronized prayer for peace really got my heart pumping, my blood flowing, and my consciousness expanding. It feels great to know more than ever before, that WE ARE ONE.

Thank you for Earth Dance 2009 everyone. can't wait to see you all again.

Take care.

BOOM!

Okay, this is waaaay late, but:

I had a great time at this party!

Big thanks to Kevin and Nick for taking care of a brotha! I felt a good vibe from this group! They helped to make me feel at home, and the 16hr drive was not in vein!

It was sad that the MAN came and crashed our party, two nights in a row...

But I had a good time regardless! Partying in a cornfield was somewhat profound...

It spurned a lot of introspection and stimulated a lot of interesting thoughts.

It was also great to hang with the Asheville group that was there... and you know who you are...

And Coop... I hope you can do your cornfield exploration some time soon...

You Psyowa guys have a good thing goan, and keep it up!

As far as the music goes: here is my review:

My favorite set of the whole event was Unwashed Tomato:Live...

The sound was crisp and clean and the music was very Psychedelic...

Other highlights to me were: some of Aktif's set, some of Niki's set, Vince and Ooze on quiet time, and Coral and Professor on Sunday morning when the volume was elevated to a party level.

All in all: It was a good time! I made a long trek from Philly (which is sometimes fun), and I am glad I did.

To anyone considering partying in Iowa: I give this group a high recommendation!!!

They were very accomodating to us "out-of-staters" and the party had a lot of crazy freaks; For sure!!!

Fun times in Psyowa, and keep it Goan guys!!!

Cheers!

Alex (Philly)
