Stuart McKeown (Proton Music)

Hailing from Belfast, and at only 23; Stuart has been DJing for 8 years. Being heavily influenced in the early days by Northern Exposure & Leftfield, Stuart has continued to mould his style of music far from what any of his peers could ever have imagined.

Growing up in a city not at all fuelled by the Electronic Music scene, Stuart was more intrigued to explore to find a more diverse sound that not only combined ambience but also had a tough gritty edge to it aswell. This lead him down the paths of many genres; experimenting in everything from Progressive House right through to Minimal House and Ambient IDM.

Stuart’s sets have appeared everywhere, his most successful to date was a Featured Artist Mix on Proton Radio. This opened up doors to a few fans in Australia who in turn invited him out to sample an Upside Down Lifestyle. His Ambient sets have also stirred up some attention, getting praise from all around the world.

Stuart has since spent a year DJing & Producing in Australia, and has etched his own mark in Melbourne. Whether it’s with his wierd minimal glitchy DJ sets or his new Productions.

With Productions now being featured in sets & mixes of some Top DJ’s Stuart is starting to see that hard work does indeed pay off and many of you will be hearing a lot more about Stuart over the next few years I guarantee you that.

Motive (Open Records)

Expect a blend of massive minimal, tribal house and progressive trance influenced by acts such as SCS/Wombat, Antix, D-sens, Infusion and Kasey Taylor.

The music he creates has many different styles ranging from ambient atmosphererics, downtempo beats thru to melodic breakbeat and dirty electro, with a Psychedelic edge.

Selwa

Selwa of Soulquest Collective started Dj'ing and producing music through the wish to be able to express thoughts and emotions through sound, and immerse himself in the trancendental experience of jamming and making music. Combining intelligent interpretations of Hip-Hop and Dub Beats with ambient textures, he has found a home in a mix of IDM, ambient, instumental hip-hop, world and experimental music. Many describe his music as lush, emotionally complex, beautiful and intricate.

Oblique Industries

>>>oblique_industries was formed by talented musician/composer Ryan Schofield in 2001. Almost hypnotically drawn to the Australian outdoor electronic music scene after years performing in various rock bands around Melbourne , Ryan still has a strong leaning toward live music. Always an act to watch, >>>oblique_industries’ combination of organic instruments including percussion, voice and guitars with electronic synths, samplers and drum machines, together with an electric onstage energy, sees his performances create a unique fusion of sound and visual style.
Ryan somewhat mischievously explains his music as ‘eclectic electronica’ or ‘eclectronica’. Incorporating everything from chill beats and dub, to minimal, electro, techno, breaks and progressive into his live and DJ sets, >>>oblique_industries has been compared to Juno Reactor, Shpongle, Aphex Twin, Trentemøller, Vitalic, Son Kite and The Chemical Brothers, just to name a notable few. From organic, earthy tones to digital bleeps and squeaks; the upbeat to the downright nasty. The variable dynamic in moods and atmospheres of an >>>oblique_industries set is like a journey through life, but faster...

Throughout his impressive career, Ryan has performed at some of Melbourne ’s premier outdoor festivals, all the time crossing, blending, and obscuring the boundaries of genre & style. Memorable performances include Akasha Festival, Maitreya Festival, Rainbow Serpent Festival, Tribeadelic Gathering, Earthcore Global Carnival and Earthdance as well as numerous club dates performing either as headliner or support for a wide variety of local and international acts including live collaborations with Kaya Project ( UK ) and Mantrix. >>>oblique_industries has also gained a reputation for special performances including guest musicians playing an array of instruments from around the world, one highlight being the closing ceremony for Earthdance Melbourne 2006 which featured 8 guest musicians playing violin, cello, nylon string guitar, didgeridoo and percussion.
