If you own one or the other, or both, perhaps you can share in my misery.
E-Mu has apparently been taking their sweet old time developing Vista drivers for the Patch Mix DSP software. At the time same they have removed all technical phone support services. The website tells you hardly anything regarding the status of the release (3rd quarter 2007 is just a little too vague for me) but hopes their beta drivers will do the job. They don't of course, and all you can do is send an e-mail and hope that someone on the other end replies with more than a sentence. Good luck there too.
As far as Vista goes, be prepared to have to make an extra mouseclick or two to confirmn every action you want to do. Even after I registered the product, the tech support site wants to charge $59 to say hello to me even though the first 90 days is supposed to be free (er...included in the price of the OS).
I know this isn't the complaint department but does anyone else feel the pain on something like this? Luckily I have a lapper running XP and can keep working but there must be others who have an E-MU card and thinking of Vista.

I still have a pc desktop with an emu card inside, but I really dont like ems attitude about drivers and support...the xp drivers for example are also not working 100% (at least for 1212m what I got there) and still their drivers havent been updated for ages! and since I smell vista seems to be a nice fuckup with not much real advantages if u work with it, I dont even bother to get it...
so I switched now on a mac with logic 8 and a motu ultralite interface and I'm more satisfied than I've ever been with any windows machine I've got!
overall, all I can tell you is to get either a new interface and remove vista with xp, or move on a mac if u want to have an uptodate OS thats really fast and not eating your half memory and processing power
and remember, leopard is also just coming...this update seems to be a lot better for working with audio than vista!

I really think that vista is not even close at becoming an OS for music production. Just forget about it, quickly !

Chess is also copied from Apple Macintosh.
Go for Mac !
one reason wat i think y u shud go for mac.
producers/artists spend double money to have 2 desktops. 1 for internet and 1 for production.y not just get one mac .
i have been using mac for almost each and everything possible on a computer.
trust me i can run many many many vst instruments on my macbook pro at the same time without freezing any one track
and everything runs perfectly fine with no troubles at all,no viruses,no errors,no hangups.
think abt it
2 Windows desktop P.C = minimum $2500- $3000
1 mac = less than that or even if it is equals to that i think it's not a bad deal
booommmmmmm

Please, not again the same Mac vs Pc bladiblabla.....
Some people just prefer Pc
.
Its a matter of taste, imo...I´ve used both all my life (my dad is a Mac devoted since i was born), i learned how to use a computer with mac, i took audio education with macs, and still i prefer pcs...its a matter of choice...
About the 2 desktops, well, you can also partition if you like, not only for the internet, but is always great to have a clean system just for music aplications without the waste of resources from other applications....either in a mac or a pc..
btw..if you know what you're doing, a pc can give you much more options/tweakings than mac imo...

In the start menu type "msconfig" and hit enter
When the window pops up go to the tools tab.
In the tools tab, scroll down until you find something that says "Disable UAC", select it and press the "Launch" button.
Next restart your computer and you will no longer be asked a question every time you want to do something.

If your audio interface is a PCI (internal audio interface) try using www.asio4all.com
as your drivers, they will at least get your interface working, though you probably wont be able to use the Patchmix DSP
