Why can't you change the e-mail address by yourself?
I mean it's not like the nick, that if you change it most of the users won't recognise u.
It's an e-mail. People change e-mails all the time.

there are security reasons.
we want u to subscribe with good e-mail adress of yours and keep it
the address is served for internal use and should be always ok, if u can change it afterthen u can always change to something doesn't exist
as well as there is an option not to show e-mail address.
