I suggest you go to a retail store and ask the guy to show you both of them in a room where you can actually tell the difference between the two. Bring a cd with you.
I did that last week with several types of speakers including the Adam A8x, Dynaudio BM6a's, Genelec, the new Mackie speakers, and KRK.... it was very informative and helped me make a decision for the future.

the adam is good but i'm in love with my dynaudio bm6. i had beringher before, and after i replaced them to the dynaudio i felt like a blind that suddenly can see. suddenly i could hear the low end!
just than i understood how important is good monitors. you can't be professional without decent monitors.

I tried those bm6's in the store and wasn't impressed by them. Personally, I'll take 9" over 6 any day of the week. That's why I like the Adam A8xs

dunno these models but i guess they have different sound, from my exerpeince with adam p22 and bm6a adam is more about medium accuracy, unpleasant sound to listen all day, not flatering and dynaudio more hifi sounding, less fatiguing . if you want to fight with your monitors it s more adam sound to me ,your mix will sound like crap until it s approximately good . with the dynaudio you mix more effortless and its a pleasure to mix /make music on them but they are maybe not as good in the mids and highs.they are different monitors and complement each other well ,someone mentionned focal and i find it s a bit a mix of both ,some good things about dynaudio and adams in them.
if you have a listen to them before buying could make your choise a lot more easier. |

ill compare them with a nice tech house cd
everybody says dynaudio has a better bass repsonse and can go more low. but some people says adam is better in the mid and highs and if you buy subwooofer it will be much better than dynaudio
but ill better compare them with my ears
thanks !!

from my experience its very hard to tell in a store which monitor is better, only after you work with them and put an eq through them you start to "feel" the monitor and only after you can hear what mix you get out if them, but anyway....
i know this is not the answer you are looking for but my advice is save up a little more and get monitors that you wont have to change them after a couple of years because you want to upgrade, monitors is the most important equipment in the studio. maybe second hand is your answer

I have the Adam A7, and I agree that the bass isn't the best on them. That's why I bought a sub as well.
Adam just released the A7X though, and from what I've heard the bass is much better on that, plus it has a much more well-rounded sound. Also, it's almost the same price as the original A7.

Yeah, the A7s didn't have enough bass for me either, but the 7xs are ok. IMHO though, the 7xs kinda color the low end a little bit around their stopping point which is 42hz... also on the ones I tested out, there was a little bit of woofer noise on a few of the tracks I tested which weren't present on the A8x. Also the A8x goes down to 38 hz and that is a difference you can honestly feel.
As for not knowing the monitors until you work with them, I disagree slightly. If you play material on it that you know and you know the mix is good, then it's an excellent reference track. From there you need to determine the speakers with the closest to flat sound, no accentuation on the frequencies. I've used Dynaudio Bm5s and Bm6as for some tracks and I just don't get the hype that company has.
