Correct.
I've tested both the 824s and the BM6s in small (my home town's digital village) and big rooms (Turnkey's upstairs monitoring room in london Charing +).
The deep low frequency response of the 824s will excite a massive lump of "floating bass" in small rooms, forcing you to use the active EQ to compensate...meaning that all that extra cash you paid to hear flat down to 37Hz was for nothing really.
In a big room the 824s outshined the BM6s completely.
I have the 824s as my main mixing monitors for a year now, and now I feel I've "learned their sound" and how that sound translates on a massive P.A., the radio and small hi-fi home systems.
If you have the space and really wanna know what's happening in the deep low end, go for the Mackies, their bass response is much better than the BM6s, whilst the mids and tops are nicely focused and don't tear your ear drums appart after long mixing sessions.
Be warned that the 824s are not the kind of monitors that will instatly make your music sound better.
They're the kind of monitors that will show you what is wrong with your mixes, which is what you want really.
