Well i used to own BM6A MKI. I once read a thread on gearslutz where someone from Dynaudio claimed that the MKII uses inferior amps which explains the price difference.
In addition the MKII only has a 50W amp for the tweeters while the MKI has a 100W amp. So the general consensus is that the MKI is slightly better even though they're older. http://www.soundcloud.com/getafixmusic |

i know that the bm6a mk1 use MOSFET amps which sound warmer then the new mk2 amps. mk2 uses amps on chip, i dont remmber the exact model.
the fact that the mk1 have 100w on the tweeter doesnt make it better then the mk2 unless u monitor at insane volumes.
the mk2 gos max 113db spl and the mk1 max 115db spl...
im aware of all the tech specs and on paper the mk1 is slightly better then the mk2, in fact u can say the mk1 is 3db better then the mk2.
also the mk2 frequency responce is 40hz-21hz, and the mk1 is 41hz-21hz. so u can say that the mk2 has better freq responce...but i know for a fact that the mk1 gos lower because of the warm mosfet amps.
i also know that the mk2 suppose to have truer low freq responce then the mk1 because of the new Cabinet model and the Resonance Frequency.
what i really like to know is if anyone had the chance to work with the mk2, coz i can read i know all the tech specs.
by the way Get-a-fix why did u sell ur bm6a's ? |

The type of transistor used to amplify the signal//for example MOSFET, or JFET, ect...can play a big part in the quality of the signal reproduction. I'm not sure what the MKII's have in them, but that could be why they are cheaper.

tc said that the mk2 are cheaper only because of the amps..the mosfet amps cost more to make. |

The K&H are amazing, completely in a different league but that should be obvious considering they cost more than double what the BM6A do.
I got them since i'm doing mixing & mastering work for commercial musicians now, so i needed the most critical monitoring that i could afford.
I ordered them from the states got a really good deal from these guys:

something that the official dealer of dynaudio in israel explaind to me :
bm6MKII is a cheaper model, that use the same elements (woffer , twiter, amp's) but with a smaller box, they are made for save space, for use mostly in portable broadcast stations and stuff like that, the mk1 is better for sure.

Here are some words I received on the basic differences of the BM6a and Bm6a mkII from Ed Simeone Chairman of TC electronic/Dynaudio...
I would reccomend the Bm6a in the end due to there mosfet amp design which has alot of benefits. Especially at the price we sell them. I have had a pair for 7 years with no issues. Hope this helps some
"The BM6A uses discrete pairs of MOSFET output devices (IR540-IR9540)
We have not seen the insides of a BM6A MkII or BM12A yet, so we don't know what the amplifier complement will be.
But the bottom line in this: We have heard the BM6A MkII and the sound quality is amazing. Critical listening tests conducted in Denmark showed the MK II to have a superior sound quality, and while it may not get quite as loud as a BM6A, many test listeners preferred the MK II's sound quality. We recognize the BM6A is a studio standard, so it is not being discontinued. Both the BM6A and the BM6A Mk II will stay in the line for a long time, so your client does not have to go elsewhere.
There are many audio enthusiasts who believe that MOSFET amps sound better than non-MOSFET amps. I think I'll stay out of that argument, but I do think the new Dynaudio models are just as exciting as the original BM Series. They have a modern look and a modern sound and while they cost less than the original series, the performance is top quality, something Dynaudio engineers are quite proud of".

There you go , Salesman LIE
its not at all for "broadcast" (was that power pc telling this shit?)
it has DIFFRENT amplifier
not same POWER USE at all , 100/100 vs. 50/100
bottom line - dynaudio recomend to get them for your studio and not saying anything about them being any less good , if anything just same with less money to spend.
i still love my classic bm6a anywayz
