Hi!
This morning when i powered on my dynaudio bm6a's I got a high level noisy beep in both my monitors. I quikly shut them off. Restarted the computer and tried again. This time, no beep. But as I was listening closer I could hear a low level noise in both the tweeter and woofer on both monitors.
I don't really know if it was there before since I could only hear it ifI but my ear like 10 cm from the speakers.
Dynaudio bm6a users, do u also have this noise?
I can't hear it when I'm listening to music and I hear no difference in the sound.
I also tried to unplug the xlr cables and just have the power plugged in, still noise.
I run them in +4 db mode and with grounded electricity.

I believe that all powered monitors emit some noise so im shure it has always been there and its quite normal. |

Hehe, but I can't remember ever hearing it before and I've had them for quite awhile.
Well maybe it's just me being overprotective
Thanks for the quick answer! |

It's a low level noise of the amplifier.
You can unplug all audio cables and only power up the monitor - you will be able to hear the noise. It's normal.

Hmmm no noise here either, could be ground loop issues. Its normal to have a very low hiss sound coming out of the tweeter (you have to put your ear right against it to hear it though).

I do need to put my ear right infront of the tweeter. But I hear a very low level noise from the woofer too.
Not as much as in the tweeter but it's still there.
edit: Found a site on ground loops:

You should get them back for a check.
Try to get them away from t.v,monitor or other electronic devices ...
In general i ve found the bm6a very sensitive to sudden voltage differences of my house electricity,my fridge when starting to work i.e
Power on kick like noise its a "must have future" for all i guess

Back for a check? to dynaudio?
I tried to disconnect mostly everything in the room but still got the noise, though it could be something else in the house maybe.
I don't have the power-on "kick" normaly, only when I restart them whitin 10 seconds. |

Could it be different level of noise on different monitors? |

so you got no cables and power suplies next to your monitors?i would even guess it was the power cables of your stuff..but if you say you turned most of them off..hm..then i would give them back to check..
you could even cover all your cables in your room with aluminium foil..

If the noise is consistent and doesn't fluctuate then it will most likely be the amp, again only should be noticeable when you are very close to tweeter. My mackies hr824's do the same even with no audio cable connected.
The bleep probably came from the soundcard. Some equipment is more sensitive to mains interference. i used to have an allen and heath mixer which would let me know when the fridge turned on
Seperate mains ring for your studio is the most ideal solutuion failing that a mains conditioner

When you are in an acousticly quiet room, having the monitors pointing at you - at total silence you can hear the noise without being very close to the tweeter.
Speggey, as I said - I don't think you have anything to worry about.
You can call Dynaudio and ask them about it maybe if you're still worried.
