Does selling my dynaudio BM6a Classics and buy this new Adam A7X and perhaps get a few bucks over sound like a good idea?
From what i have read about the A7X it looks like they are pretty killer, i love my bm6a's but i would like to try something new =)
and are lets say 1000€ a reasonable price for them dynaudios you think?, they are in a very good condition ofcourse.
Any thoughts?
cheers. |

My suggestion go to a shop and demo the adam's they have a different sound signature. Then you compare and keep the one you prefer or you can figure if you can live with the adam's.

You can get the HR824s for that cash. Head down to demo them before you buy anything.
When I tried them next to the BM6 actives, I much preferred the sound of the Mackies.

Midrange and treble resolution is superior to anything in that class when it comes to the Adam´s
The Dynaudio´s win on pure SPL as those amps really can go loud (new amps in the x series might compete favorably). To me Dynaudio is still a little bit on the hi-fi side of things and the Adam´s are very analytical (not always nice sounding, but then again not every mix is the bomb) Translation to other speakers is quite phenomenal considering the price.
Whether you should sell your Dynaudio´s, I really could not say. After all they do cost well over double what a pair of Adam´s cost. In my opinion they do not offer twice the precision. It would be an easier choice if you were on the lookout for your first pair of monitors.

never heard the new adams but i m curious about them, i love my p22.
strenght of the dynaudio imo is that they let you concentrae on what really matter cause they are not the most deltaied monitors, you don t get lost and when used in a good room the balance of the mix translate great everywhere. but adam are more mixing tools that let you go more into details and could push a mix done on the dyns to the next level imo , they can complement each other very well.
i would say bm6a + adam a7x but if the a7x are really good they could make the dyns obsolete |

This is what im after really, as i feel they can be pretty sloppy sometimes in the detailes, and my friend also have the dynaudio bm6a, so it might get our mixdowns even better if we have 2 diffrent monitors complementing eachother =)
it was me who started the thread btw.. =)
cheers!

it s more safe if you can try them before ceiling , you could make a mistake imo,it s so much about taste, they will have different strenght and weakness that may suit you better or maybe not. but if you can have bm6a of your friend and a7x in the same room and use both sell your pair |

I have little experience with the A7X, but if your friend already has Dynaudios, then Adams are a great choice. Adam have a record of superior treble and midrange reproduction, and unless you intend to go overboard, these two sets of speakers should cover all your mixing needs.

Imo dynaudio are nice but need a subwoofer cause subbass is not really hearable, that are only my impressions after not more than maybe 20-30 houres of mixing on them, more will defo follow though.
I've no expirience with Adam once I've had a test hearing only and didn't like them but I think Id change my opinion nowadays I think they are killer for that price. The frequency spectrum in adam a7 goes up to 50 kHz & that is a fucking lot,so the highs should be more detailed. Also no expirience of mackie but I can imagine they are killer.

i liked the sound of the mackie ,i rated monitors like this when bought my adam ,adam p22 > bm6a=8040a=hr824 for me and a friend ,but i could mix with any of these ,all great imo with a preference for the 8040 but never mixed on them, they sound awesome for electronic music that i found it suspect but i heard some deadmau mix, it show you can make good mix on them and they are quality and sound very viby at same time |

just wondering where is everybody with this: is it for you most important how your speakers translate to other systems or do you go for the nice sound? (that might not be there anymore when your mix is played somewhere else but gives a pleasant vibe in the studio) |

A8X has ribbon tweeters so its safe to say the high frequencies should be way more detailed.
A8X also has a 8.5" driver v/s 6.7" on the mackie so it should be able to go down lower in the bass spectrum.
The sound signature of the mids cant be commented on till you hear it personally, but adams do have a great repo in the studio industry.
hope this helps.
