I am wondering which is the best monitoring option: the BM15s with a good amp or the BM6As which are active. On paper, i would say that the BM15s are better suited for dance, because the go down to a rediculous 30 Hz or something. Anyone here who has some experience ?

to my opinion,
BM15: Tweeter: 100 W / Woofer: 200 W, crossover at 1800Hz, 30Hz-21kHz
Monitor for Big rooms, that's the only way you can get the right pic
BM6 : Tweeter: 100 W / Woofer: 100 W, crossover at 2200Hz, 41Hz-21kHz
Monitor for samller rooms and good for mixing cuz the crossover at 2200hz so you will hear the mid range more clear.
to buy the bast monitor is not always the right thing to do its depend in lots of things, like your room, acoustics, placment.....EVRYTHING COUNTS, its the way of sound. |

yes it depends the size of your studio and the distance the monitors are from you. |

I have Bm6a.
have in mind that active solution is usually the best.
The less cable used the better performance u got.
Also active has its sound character by it self not depending to amplifiers and cables.
U can simple buy the Bm6a and then add a subwoofer that can do the (b)low job much better than the monitor it self.
Excellent choice,go for it

An active solution is NOT usually the best one. Just because it comes with an amp doesn't mean that the amp is any good. I guess in Dynaudio's case the amp is actually preety good, but it's not always the case, especially with cheaper monitors.
Why do you need a subwoofer for? You don't make music with subwoofers, it just messes the way you perceive the bass IMO.

Agreed with Mike A on subwoofer part.
Do you know if there is a big differnce between BM6a and BM5a except for the power/loudness ofcourse? I know there is a big price difference what I mean is will it affect a lot my production? Please don't say that BM6a have lower frequency range by 10 hz and my bass will sound better bc of them. |
