@ Pinkadelic: yes I see your point... It's hard to describe the Void... it's empty but with such fullness
@ Glitch: I see you'd like my friends a lot. They help me maintain a healthy attitude and in the same time they are an endless source of inspiration, support and fun. Music and friends are what my life is all about "It occurred to me by intuition, and music was the driving force behind that intuition. My discovery was the result of musical perception"

^^ yeah, thats right man
to the topic - to give a name for a track is the most difficult part for me. i use working title and when the track is finished we with my second part of the band decide how to name it. fortunately she and her imagination are good friends so the titles are born quickly =)
its much easier when the track has some kind of voice over sample.

Ye, like Void - Fuck the System or Skazi vs Tube - Dangerous ...
I think it's a very personal thing. Most pirate heads get to see "track 1, track 2, etc" so people fortunate enough to see the full title should feel fortunate enough to see the full title.
I mean, Artifacts "The Confinuety of Prostitution" has got to mean something right? |

I work with themes. Each song has a reason to exist.
I dont work with vocals, i mean, singing, so i try to translate the words with atmospheres.. |

One day few years ago I was reading QuadFrohmage manual and when I've reached "MIDI" section a I've had a small and sudden enlightment. Manual suggested routing MIDI notes to Quad "probes" assuring that it will produce "Instant Gratification"
Sadly enough, second Artifact album was lousy just as much as the first one was amazing

i name everything by tempo and key, and maybe one adjective ( for example 110 A#m crunchy) right up until I send it to someone or put it on the web. I don't have any albums out so it's not so much of a concern! |

Usually when I first name a track, I'll name it something completely random like "Pancakes". As the track evolves, I begin to think of a story, scene, or image that the music is playing to. After I get this image in my head, I'll name it accordingly.
Ive found it never wise to use the whole 145-008-whatever deal. It gets confusing when you are looking for that loop you made a month ago.

Lateron when its finished i rename the folder to the actual track name

So what i understand from you is that when you start on something it always becomes a full/final track at some stage?
For me, like 90% of the stuff i start on ends up in the test directory and either i use pieces of it again later or it just stays there for the sake of me not wanting to throw 'work' away.
Now if i had to name all my work before starting on it i limit myself in various ways.
- I cannot let my mind speak freely because it is biased by a name and i don't want the name to be totally meaningless to what you're listening to.
- I end up naming everything i create and considering only 1 out of 10 creations makes it to a full track i would come up with 9 names that get trashed and thus severely limitting my options on new tracks.
- I start making a track because of some idea in my mind, now if i have to come up with a name first i end up losing the idea.
I usually just name them testXXX where XXX is usually a sequential number unless i think it should be identified in some other way so i can find it back faster.
