Dynamic
Dynamic Sound
Phokol

Dynamic are Ben Avital and Shay Elmakaies who released their first album "Dynamix" back in 2003. I liked that one so let's see what they have done here.

1. Time To Get Serious

"The cold hard facts are that anything is possible. Anything. Anything, you're just not...thinking creatively"

This track starts with a nice build-up and some good energy. We're in full-on mode at 1'47" with some pretty thick leads. I like how it is not just typical full-on. The beats are "cut up" and lead to a driving kick. The acoustic guitar riff is a nice bridge between melodies, and there are a lot of those. Great way to start an album. 7/10

The Way of Happiness

"The The function of all this technical equipment is to enhance the music in some way."

The track starts with sticky bass and a heavy kick witha metallic lead we have all heard before. This gives way to a punchy bassline and now we are moving! The hi-toned melody is soft and then matched by a squishy, dirty lead. True mover! Again, the rhythm is changed enough as not to get boring. Good track if a bit short at 6:12. 7.5/10

3. Dynamic Sound Remix

This is a remix of the track Dynamic Sound from the Global Trance Network v/a. Melodies from all directions with a soothing voice pad to begin. The rambling bassline shifts and rises carrying the track. I like all the varied sounds, they give off a spacey, all alone up there feeling. And there is still the big kick to drive us along. Outstanding melodies at the 4'57" mark and then it all slows down to a crawl. Ha Ha...but not for long! Great track! 8/10

4. 24 hrs

Breakbeat with a sliced pad for that funky fresh feeling! The next melody sounds as if it is underwater with the track rising. The bassline slips along as the melody slowly comes to the fore. At the break the choir sings, but for me this track isn't that interesting. I believe that it plods along and lacks variability. 6/10

5. Acid Troopers

Some more cut up samples over ominous pads. The bassline is commanding and it makes me nod my head Oooohhh and there is some acid! Just a taste at first but more to come. I like the wickedly scary (in an evil clown sort of way) Event Horizon sample. The track continues to build and turns into something pretty solid. 7.5/10

6. Sense of Style

We begin with a delicate melody with some popcorn(think Eskimo). The bassline is funky for sure and we continue to have elaborate breaks. It moves at a pretty good clip. The priginal melody briefly returns, but then is supplanted by a frenetic undercurrent. It's builing and I want in! At 5 minutes we are in full flight and I can see into the clouds Nice! 8/10

7. Hallucinogenic Vision

Yes please! There is that TB sound weaving behind some delay then right to the front. Stomping bassline makes me tap my feet. And right away we dive into sweet, sweet acid. You can feel some old-school goa melody in this puppy. Calming down at 3 minutes, we are launched into some more TB and then Dunked into the acid pool! Love this one! 8.5/10

8. Metal Flange

This track has a punchy bassline that is sprinting! Various bits of psy intertwine even through the short break. Great pace! At the 3 minute mark, everything switches, but it si subtley done. New bassline, new melody, the whole 9. This track is just an all out assault. 8/10

9. I'm Very Fineplay

Did I hear some beatbox? Yep, I did. Pretty cool. This track starts off taking you through your paces with a fat kick, swirling leads, and aggressive bassline. There is a lot going on, but it is additive, not wearying. The beatbox comes back joined by a short melody, but then you get drilled by that dominant bassline, as everything starts to flesh out. I liked this one as well. 8/10

Conclusion:

This was a good CD. Some artists slump after their first release, but not these guys. I found this CD to have great production, interesting sounds, and made me want to dance. If I have one gripe, it would be the length of the CD. Just 63 minutes leaves room for one if not 2 more tracks. I look forward to more releases from Dynamic. Good Job. 7.5/10

Their previous album 'Dynamix' which was released by Phonkol records was a smasher! Now this talented duo are out with Dynamic Sound and certainly live up to this albums name.

1. Dynamic vs Eskimo - Time to get serious
And an aptly named track to begin our journey. I was sort of taken a-back hearing samples from street fighter. Ryu's 'sho-ryu-ken' and Guile's 'Sonic boom'.. a little childish if you ask me but the track seems to make up for that with a very nice sample which sound close to the tribal metal track. "1-2-3-4 FINAL ROUND, FIGHT" and this tracks explodes in a frenzy of cosmic sounds!

2. Dynamic - The way of happiness
A beat with an electro feel to it, and some uplifting bubbly sounds start this track off. This track offers a lot of bounce with its touch of happiness. Nice soft samples used along this track. This track doesn't have an agressive ending but keep you yearning to hear some more from these guys.

3. Dynamic - Dynamic sound (Rmx)
Very electronic start to this track, sounds like a bomb ticking away with the 'ticking' noise. Nice groovy bassline packed with a lot of sounds and a nice lead. I love how all sounds have been synchronised so well.

4. Dynamic - 24 hours.
Very futuristic pad to start this track off. These guy always fool you by giving you a nice build but not give you a hard bassline, which makes you curious. "24 hours a day" .. and you start to get a taste of what this track is all about. The flow of this track brings about serene thoughts, very floaty and nicely structured track.

5. Dynamic - Acid troopers
Starts off with nice acidic sample. This track sure sounds like its supposed to be a smasher and indeed is. Nice buildup to introduce the bassline of this track. I'm particularly fond of it. This track is filled with explosive sounds and variety. Definately a floor killer, good going guys!

6. Dynamic vs Sigma - Sense of Style
A typical disco start to this track, and the old 'twilight' noise as I like to call it. "Hello, you've arrived to industry studios. Please leave as message after the beep" and a phat bassline lets you picture yourself grooving to this track. I like how this track gives you a feeling of more to come. Certainly a smasher for sure.

7. Dynamic vs Cycle Sphere - Hallucinogenic Vision.
A very sawy start to this track.. for some reason this track sounds a lot like an influence from Eskimo. I don't know, it might just be me. This track concentrates more on sound. Keeps pulling up and then letting you go, only to suddenly grab hold of you again and take you higher!

8. Dynamic vs 220 Volt - Metal Flange
This track is one of the best in this CD. Very nice lead through out this track.. nice twists and turns everywhere. I love how the bassline changes during the middle of this track. It gives you a total different feeling, like some how the track has changed all together. These guys have out done themselves with an amazing finish to keep those tail feathers still shaking.

9. Dynamic - I'm very fine play
Nice soother to end this album. Very slow start with a drifting pad used. Some funky sounds along with a lot of groove. A change of bassline for the last few minutes of this track with sounds that tell you this journey of morning madness is over.

These guys have pulled if off again. This album gives you a taste of varied styles of morning - from agressive endings to pure bliss. Although I would've preferred smashing tracks through out this album, these guys yet seem to prove they know what morning tunes are all about.

I agree that this is not the most original release ever, and it's nowhere as good as the DynamiX album, but still... Good groove and nice funk!           V/A Floating Mirror - OUT NOW - with Celles, Midimal, Electrypnose, Melodix, Troll Scientists, Yab Yum, Gaspard, Ajja, Cradle of Beats! Info on

yea, there's a good groove in each track, but that's about it. The melodies are not very "psy", almost too simple... club trance is the right word. every track got a similar structure which makes it boring after a couple times of listening. I'm dissappointed with this album, after all the hype prior to its release.           www.frakasoundrecords.com
