i have a registered version of Total Recorder and had no problems with it... but in fact I have now uninstalled it because I dont like having unnecessary audio drivers etc installed on a machine I use for music production.......

So now to extract samples from DVDs I do what is suggested above: whenever I buy a DVD I reencode it in DivX format, keep an mp3 alongside the avi, and whenever I need a sample I take it from the mp3 (using the avi to find the correct bit of the film). Well you need a large hard drive for this once you have a big DVD collection! I guess you don't really need the avi, but I am too lazy to reach up to my shelf........

Oh actually I now use Traktor to extract the correct bit of the mp3.... quick and easy: with SF it would take ages to open the file....

Why to use program that records the sound from
the output of the sound card?!
much easier and better quality is to extract the
sound of the movie file itself and cut the part you
need.
extract the .ac3 file from the .vob file of the movie
with one of the dvd ripping progs.
than extract a .wav file from the .ac3
cut the part you need.
enjoy
