Hi everyone.

I really like these two awesome songs:

A person, who isn't into Psytrance at all, told me that this sound is very similar to a genre called "Dutch Trance" (??? When I think about Dutch Trance, I think about Tiesto or Armin Van Buuren).

He's right? Which good artists do you recommend to listen if I like those songs very much?

(Also, some hints about the waveforms they use for their fantastic chords/plucks would be great )           Fire Walk With Me

I don't really find this very similar to 'normal' trance from Dutch artist. To be honest I don't like this type of trance at all, despite living in The Netherlands my whole life. It's to commercial, no good drive in the song and it lacks of a story to tell so to say.

The tracks you posted however are pure progressive trance, this I like a lot. Phaxe and Lish are great when it comes to this music.

The reason your friend finds it very similar is probably because progressive trance is a subgenre that is pretty diverse. You have a lot of artist working on this kind of music. From very psychedelic to the 'normal' trance that we know from before. An artist that is closer to the 'normal' trance scene is Ferry Corsten, he fits right in with Armin Van Buuren and Tiesto.

The tracks you posted stand a bit more far away from the progressive trance we know from the 'commercial' artists lets say. If you like the songs in your post very much I suggest the following artist:

Liquid Soul, Motion Drive, Synesthetic, Time In Motion, Vibrasphere, Ritmo, Protonica, Midimal, Yotopia, Day Din, Odiseo, Osher, Kopel, Zyce.

Some labels for this kind you will probably like:

Iono Music, Iboga Records, Blue Tunes Records, Echoe Records and maybe you can also enjoy music from Spin Twist Records. Plusquam Records also has some good prog releases.

If you are going a little bit more for the psychedelic aspect in progressive trance and like things a little heavier in general, I suggest:

E-Clip, Flegma & Nerso, Lyctum, Ace Ventura, Loopstep, Unseen Dimensions, Egorythmia, Zen Mechanics, Vertical Mode. A good label for this kind is Tesseract Studio.

For 'normal' trance music I can not help you much. But if you can dig this I'm sure there is a lot out there.

Thank you for the reply.

Unfortunately I'm very familiar with all the artists and labels you cited (of course I enjoy them very much).

I guess I have to search for more V.A. tracks by Lish and Phaxe.

Any hints about those stabs by the way?           Fire Walk With Me

Good day sir! First you need this trance from Holland

then this maybe..

try 'matching' to your ears the waveforms of basic leads with the bass firstly , then with the rest of the sounds or base your choice of sounds on this 'match' you've made. mix sine and pulse waveforms for the bass maybe and play around listening what works for you!
