i live on the 10th (11th, if you count the lobby) floor of an appartment building in downtown. the room is "open" and has no doors, but is seperated from the rest of the appartment.

the problem is simple. the dust just keeps coming back constantly. i cleaned it off this morning, used air duster, and it came back full-force only a few hours later. i feer for the safety of my PC and gear. it looks dirty and im sure it cant be good at all for them. are there are tips for keeping my studio dust free?

Try an ioniser. If you put it in the right place it will attract a lot of the dust in your room to it. You should also cover your kit when you're not using it.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

Yeah, you can get those Ionic Breeze ionizers on those infomercials, for half that price on eBay, refurbsihed or Blem from the factory.           http://soundcloud.com/aeon604

also, always vacuum ur room instead of brushing it, by brushing u create a big duststorm, and all the dust u blew up (most of it gets brushed away ofcourse, but the little particles get swept up into the air) will come down on ur gear after a few minutes...

Prolly sounds silly, cuz u prolly do that already, but u never know...

the main source of the problem comes from my roommate. he is going to school to be a special FX designer for movies. he uses a lot of industrial materials which leaves a lot of particals in the air and on stuff around the apartment. other than that, he is messy as hell. so its always a reck in here. so, i gotta find a way to stop it all or im going to move out. im afraid that if i get an ionic breeze or whatever, that i'd have to empty/clean it everyday.           The IsraTrance MySpace Group:

They're pretty cool, and as the commercial says, there's no filters to replace, it has no moving parts so it is totally silent.

When you pull out the "blades" and wipe all the stuff off, you really get a sense for how much crap is floating around in the air.

Getting them brand new is pretty overpriced, I'd recommend getting one on eBay or refurbished like I mentioned.

One thing I would suggest is that you not burn candles near the device, the ionizing attracts the soot from the burning wick and the entire outside plastic case soon becomes blackened. It's kind of bizzare.

If you have a mold problem, there are germicidal models available that have a UV light that destroys the DNA of any living organism that passes through the chamber, but unless you have a noticible mold problem or germophobia that one is kind of overkill. And, like, don't stick your hand in there.

actually in "consumer reports" it says the ionic breeze performed the worst out of all of the ozone creating air purifiers (which they claim to stay away from if possible). the ionic breeze only removed 30% of the particles at the unit and ONLY 5% in the room, not as they claim at all.
the best testing one was: "IQAir HealthPro Compact" with 99.9% particle removal but its around $700-$800.           "On the other hand, you have different fingers."

$700-800? Yeah, there you go. I got my Ionic Breeze for $150. So that other one had better be superior...

I haven't seen any comparative reports or anything, but I know how much crap I wipe off the blades every week.

The Ozone thing is weird. Some places tout ozone creation as good, and others as bad. I've never really gotten a straight answer on that. You can buy little air-box thingys that list creating ozone as their only function.           http://soundcloud.com/aeon604
