Hello .I have quite strange question.I'm gonna play at the open air party with my midi(Emu xboard49) just wanted to ask if the dust could damage the keyboard .I haven't got experience of the outdoor playing ,that's why I'm asking silly questions like this. |

Ofcourse not. Keep it in a gig bag while you don't play or cover it up with a cloth or towel just in case.
Cheers!

Put it in a bag, or if you have a cloth, move it away from the dancing area when not in use. I made the mistake of leaving my equipment up one night for a few hours after my set. Even though it had a large cloth covering it entirely, almost down to the ground, it was covered in a layer of dirt underneath. Mind you I was only a few feet from the dance floor, but people kick up a dust cloud at these things!

offcourse it damage your equipment!
this is why live act includ nice expensive equipment cost more!
its all about the damage for me... my lappy after 10 parties is soooo dusty its impossible to clean...
midi-keys laptop synth , they dont like dust obviously!
anyhow if it breaks , no one will help you buy new one.
keep it in a bag or in a car during the hole time u not play.
hope your stage is abit higher , i like to be eye-to-eye , but higher stage keeps the equipment much cleaner.
ohh good old days when all i needed was cd case an headphones... in israeli desert on big party even i had to change cd case because of all the sand www.sattelbattle.com

Dust surely can make your equipment work ruffer - that's not counted as damage imo because you can just clean it.
What can hurt your equipment, esspecially outdoors, is humidity. For instance my MIDI keyboard circuit got damaged due to humidity for I haven't kept it in cloth for a longer while. The circuit just gets eaten... Then you will have to solder jumpers all around.
cheers.
