Forgive me, I have to know..
I bought a new soundcard recently to replace my more 'gaming' orientated model. Instantly the sound from Cubase was much much clearer and brighter and my keyboard plays instantly when keys are pressed (ahh, the joy of low latency)
Does a better soundcard produce better sounding music after a mixdown, or is it purely better quality to the monitors? |

The music that is mixed down never passes though the soundcard, so the music will sound the same. On the other hand, you will hear more so your mixing will be more accurate, and as a result your mixdowns will sound better.
