dumb question about Monitores......

Ok i think in a near future buy something more to my "studio".
i was thinking buy a monitores...iīve allready a good speakerīs.
SO the dumb question is:
what will i benefit in buy a monitores?
or better what are the diferentīs between a good 2 pack Speakrīs and a monitores.
pll tell that the monitores donīt have any pre equalizaton, so what U hear is what U get.
and otherīs tell m that are difrent kindīs of equalization in monitores so it dependeīs of what you want!!so U can tell im a little bit about it???
So...........
anyone there to show m the light...

moniters have flat response, so you can hear what your music REALLY sounds like, your speakers are most likely pretty "colored", and you arent hearing the reality of your production. They make it sound better than it really does.
