whats the difference between the DX and the VST VST2 plugins?
like i mean on the performance side ,i dont think there is any on the sound side.

nothing on the sound side.
it's just that VST plugins can be automated withitin the host program. That's the main reason of makin a VST plugin - it can be in motion.

And compatibility.
Sonar for example works only with DX and DXi.
VST on the other hand, is much more buggy.

no, thats not entirely accurate.. sonar wa the first version of cakewalk to come with a full dx-vsti wrapper with it so sonar can use both direct x and vsti plugins
but on the whole, vst is preferable... most software supports it whereas pre-sonar cakewalk does not, also theres loads of vst plugins of all kinds out there as freewqare and to buy, but theres barely anything freeware for direct x |
