I always liked following the progression of the underground culture through time, the way it seems that every decade or 2, a new generation comes out that keeps the main anti-culture ideas but at the same time adopt a completely different music style: from rock to EBM to classic trance to goatrance to psytrance... Anyway, I believe that today we're on the verge of another such "style jump": abandoning trance altogether for dubstep! They've played dubstep at VuuV this year, IMO that's proof that something is definately changing here. So what are your thoughts on this?

what would really kick ass is an automated ring modulator pedal for the bass guitar... throw that into ska!
yeah dubstep is certainly hot... would say that the drum and breaks scene will eventually absorb that sound and we're all gonna end up on dogs on acid.
but dub... now that's the root of musical love... dub will live forever! |

some dubstep i do enjoy (scary, foul basses made by perverted foxes) but i'm very easily annoyed by that clappy beat and the sporadic hip hoppy sounds and tones which can totally ruin it for me.
but it can be fun to groove (stoned) at these slow (sometimes moshing) dubstep bashes plus there's some interesting artists around... from psykkodelic stuff to clubby hip shit.
but for me it does'nt hold enough yet.
gimme da psycho-music instead...

Really?...I don't agree with u my friend. I think there's many artists in dubstep who really deserves to be discover.
I recommend the album Scream-scream (same name and title). A masterpiece for me, high quality, and beautifull ideas.
Luke envoy ("gamma" and "honour kill" specially):

All Dj's i know who are mixing&producing this music have a strong reaggea/dub culture, dubstep is a part of this evolution i think.
And have a look on this page, that's a killer crew and net label based in geneva:

You can download nice stuffs for free here (in french but not hard to manage)...There's also many great links to other netlabels.
