worldbridge is neuro then dubstep during the day on saturday and it has always been a super sick way to decompress from the trauma, but still play some sick twisted grimey filthy dub to slam those who love that shit!!

This stuff is the real deal ^^. I've had the pleasure of seeing 2562 multiple times and he makes patient, well produced, intelligent dubstep. It is not the usual 'wobble wobble' you expect to hear from the dubstep genre but his stuff rocks.
Burial is also a trailblazer in dubstep, both of his albums are top notch and alot more ambient then more well known dubstep producers. I recommend everyone take a listen to some of his stuff.
I will admit some dubstep is AWFUL and i've found myself a variety of genre parties cringing from some of the tunes (Bassnectar anyone?). However after seeing the likes of Skream, Benga, 2562 and a really top notch set of djs out of philly (sonkin, starkey, dev79) I will always give dubstep a chance.
As for how they mix? Dubstep has been the genre that has grown the most over the years as its finally made its way across the pond. Alot of people dig it and it can get psychedelic although not in the same was as psy. Check out the VA-Dubstep allstars 6 mixed by appleblim and dubstep allstars 3 mixed by Kode 9both mixes are extremely well done and i find it to be quiet psychedelic |

In my opinion, psy is, first and foremost, hypnotic trance-dance music. If it "blows your mind", that's just a happy side effect. The steady beat is way more important than whatever twisted shit producers are doing right now. |

right, so I dont enough motivation to read all three pages.. sorry if this has already been asked:
What exactly do you mean by mixing dub with psytrance at parties? do you mean mixing a psy track into dub and vice versa, or do you mean playing dub (for e.g. a whole set) at a psy party?
If it is the latter, I feel it is very relevant to play dub at a psy party. Majority of our parties have the main psy floor, and the second floor is dedicated to other types of electronic music. The second floor plays a variety of prog, dub, dnb, electro-fidget/fidget-house and I have even heard really funky circus music being played. At our longer three/four day parties, they often play ONLY this type of music for the first night.
As for the former, I cant say Ive ever heard psy being mixed into dub, but i reckon it could be quite funky for an early set perhaps
So no, it is not only the US, its in fact pretty big and well received here. To me, the psy genre goes hand in hand with dub, dnb, and fidget. Im actually quite surprised to see a thread like this one

Thank for input Tizzy.
Again the point is on LATELY. I mean Ambient was the main style on the second stage for years and years.
Again the question remains, if you guys feel that Dub is connected to Psytrance how come you guys don't feel that Psybreaks Or Proggressive/Tribal House does?
Mainstream? Dub is as mainstream as it gets in EDM. Psytrance is mainstream in a BUNCH of countries.
Ok so Psytech or Minimal Tech Is connected to Psytrance most of you would agree with that although I do not. So why to throw Dub in there? |

I believe it is. Hence the second floors playing it so often here. The second floor plays pretty much most electronic music. Cant speak for the US though.
However, I have never heard house/hardhouse (stuff like lisa lashes) at parties. I personally dont like it.. but I am quite curious as to why there seems to be such a divide between house and psy. I think this sort of follows on psymans question. Its interesting that certain types of electronic music are grouped together.. e.g. psy/prog/dub/dnb/fidget and then on the other end of the spectrum you have house/hard house/dance house and such and such.. and each end of the spectrum has totally different types of people and they tend to dislike the opposite end of the spectrum. For instance, youll never find me at a hard house "Rave".. and youll never find a raver stomping at a psy party.
rambling here.. gotta take it easy on this cough syrup methinks.
did i make any sense?

When early trance producers took techno structures and equipment, cranked the BPMs and the arpeggiators, the intention to blow people's minds was obviously apparent. It's not like anyone thought: "Oh, no we should definitely slow this down a bit and reduce the layers of melodies, we wouldn't want anyone to have their mind blown here, we just want them to dance...." LOL? Haha, that's what I'm saying.
What trance did to techno is akin to what dubstep did to dnb. Someone said: "hey, what if I take this and crank it up to about a billion?". And what happens when you turn something up to a billion is minds get blown, regardless of personal intention. Psy parties and festivals consist of a collection of people who are quite adept at having their minds blown. Any trippy electronic music eventually sifts into the scene (that's why psybreaks, prog/tribal/tech house and techno are there). The dubstep crossover was inevitable, no? |

dubstep all sounds the same guys....you know it!!! lol
and if you ask a dubster, psy all sounds the same...that might be the connection.
personally, i would rather have some sick minimal/techno/jungle/psybreaks/ even gabba or some autechre type IDM mixed up at psy events than dubstep, especially if its indoors.
peace to you and peace to me. |

one thing i like about dubstep is that somehow they can make it sound like a woofer is just shredded and flapping around in a speaker box with 5000 watts behind it yet its not harsh on the ears at all
