This is a remix for a competition Subaqueous is running right now. I like the melodies and basslines I came up with for this. Not too happy with the mix for the 2nd half. I knew I wanted it to have that vibe from the beginning (been listening to a lot of n5md stuff which obviously rubbed off on me). Never tried really making anything like that before, so I still have a lot of experimenting to do.

Here's the original:

Hey man.
Chill vibe.
I think your kick is a little to muffled, i know its not psy but still i think little to muffled.

Your snare is little muffled too, for the second half i would distort it even more .
The baseline i really like, it has alot of place and movement.
Nice melodies too.
Interesting percussion change after the small break. Nice development.

Nice tune i liked it           .

if you are talking about the first dub kick, then yeah, i high passed it quite low initially, as i felt that sounded better. i experimented layering a lowpassed clicky kick on top of it and making it barely audible (and putting some reverb on it). i think it made things sound fuller for that section.

wasn't sure what to do with the snares. i didn't want to have a really full and dominant snare, as i wanted to keep things pretty laid back. but it also sounded weird when the snare is too weak and in the background. need to play around with percussion in general for the middle section. i set something basic in the beginning and concentrated on the melodic elements. and then just ran out of time and never got around to properly working it.

also changed all my guitar patches for the last section last night. they definitely sound better to me now. still needs work. i reuploaded the new version.

thanks for listening and for the tips.           https://soundcloud.com/dead-end-dance

hey. try to open up the air of the rythm guitar. that reagge soiunding guitar. this sound should go high in the air. try timeless if you have. for kinda exciter delay

the song has a very nice mood to me. very chill.maybe take some time for the bass. that they have equal balanced punch. i often take like 5 layers.... for every note one. to keep the punch up:)

percussion is very tight in the second part but still like Grevinsky said, some little muddy drums.

didn't sound right to me when the echoes got brighter over time. i wanted to keep it more in the background. though i agree i can tweak it further to make it sit better in the mix.

probably a good strategy for in-your-face dubstep. but i don't mind some notes losing punch, since they are jumping around the octave a bit. makes it sound more natural.

this i'm starting to agree more on. need to tweak more.
