can n1 tell me if it is easy to configure cubase to operate with 2 monitors?
can u open 2 different midi tracks on each monitors?
i heard that it s way better to use them both.. ... but the question is: is it worth it?
thanks in advance

you can also define hotkeys to quickly move one window (eg mixer, vst gui) to the other screen.
if you go for a dualmonitor setup, check out ultramon. very helpful tool that beats native software of ati and nvidia.

its REALLY easy, and its heaven. Arrange on one window, mixer on the other, it just changed everything for me. Everything flows so much better with 2 screens. If i had one screen and had to chose between another and a synth I would take the screen any day

Dual screen production es awesome im have been using it for about 2 years now, and it helps u a lot to have a more clean way to make music, in one screen u can have your secuencer and in the other your mixer a lont with vst's or effects and u wont have a mess with a lot of windows on top of each others and it looks very high-tech hehe dual monitors rules!!!

Multiple monitors is amazingly helpful if you work in software alot. Many cards nowadays have 2 or 3 output jacks (1 analog, 1 digital, & 1 s-video). Most of the time, you can buy a $10 adapter for the digital output & use 2 analog monitors with it. You see, most digital/dvi outputs send both a digital & analog signal. However, some only send a digital signal, which requires a converter box (which costs like $200).
I found this out the hard way with my 1st video card. Ended up selling it for another one, so if you are using analog monitors, make sure the digital output also sends an analog signal, so you can use the cheap $10 adapter.

hi there ! i use dual monitors and productionwise, is a very handy tool. like quite a few ppl said, arrangment in the one monitor and mixer in the other is very comfortable. what i also like to do when recording automation is to have arrangment and vst in seperate windows. about the graphics card: i use 2 graphic cards. the first one is quite a good one (i want to use my computer for other things than music production too) and the second one is quite crappy - because i only use the second monitor when producing, and cubase doesn't need that much graphics power |

is there a way to adapt the 2 screens-system on a labtopsystem or does it need computercomponents that you anly find in desktopmachines (like it is with pci-cards)? |

vipal you're pretty much screwed if your laptop hasn't got any way to connect a second monitor. there are alot of laptops nowaday that at least feature a tv out. you'll be stuck at 800x600 resolution but better than nothing.
I hate to work at computers with single monitors. so spoiled with a dual screen setup at home it's unpleasant.

Dual monitors is the way forward!
For a laptop set up, it should be possible (depending on the video card) to use the actual laptop screen as a secondary (or primary if you prefer) by plugging a screen into the video out socket - which all modern laptops have. Then enable the second screen in Windows display properties. The desktop should span both screens now.
I do IT for my company and I set our laptop users up with dual screens for when they are in the office - but (can you believe this..!) they didn't 'get it' and made me put the display into mirror mode, where each screen displays an identical image.. Talk about retarded.
My boss was not impressed by the extended desktop, but got really excited and called everyone over to show off his 2 screen machine - with identical pictures. *Groan* I literally work for morons.
Anyway, if your laptop or desktop doesn't support 2 screens natively you could always buy this:
http://www.microdirect.co.uk/ProductInfo.aspx?ProductID=11620&GroupID=1260
The Matrox Dual Head2Go. It tricks your video card into thinking you have 1 monitor with a super wide display, then splits the signal into 2 for 2 actual screens.
They also make a triple Head2go so you can have 3 screens! |

as u can see... Dual head is great fabulous what space to do everything being able to watch the sequencer, mixer and a few plugins at the same time is fantastic
cubase is great with dual head, fruity loops always opens it's screens on the main screen, and you always have to drag them over to the secondary screen, which is quite bothersome actually... Cubase opens everything where you put it last... |
