thanks for your good advice, spindrift. yes, i found the K8NSC, it's cheap indeed if i buy it, this implies i don't go for a pci-express graphics card and won't be tempted to play any games... hehe, maybe this is a good choice.
all the best to you |

what about the creamware scope a/d converters? are they good? i was considering a rme multiface or hdsp 96/32 with more analog inputs. |

I'm under the impression that RME have a bit better converters, but the ones on the Pulsar is not bad and the difference will not be very obvious I'm quite sure.
Not having done an A/B test though it's all based on comments from users and technical information...so take it for what it's worth.
The main factor in deciding what card to get would for me certainly not be the quality of the converters, but then I don't do a lot of analouge recording.
The main thing is if you like the flexibility and processing/synthesis features scope has to offer.
That can do wonders to the quality of your regular trance productions in my experience, much more so than a minute difference in fidelty for your monitoring or one or two analouge recordings in the mix.
If you are not in need of the DSP functionality of Scope then RME has them beat in all aspects and will be the better choice.
What I would do if I was doing a lot of analouge recording and was really concerned about fidelty is to get an external converter to use with my Pulsar...but to get anything that would make a worthwhile improvement you are looking at spending quite a bit extra.

Hello guys
I´m new to the forums, and I´m also thinking about buying a Pulsar 2 card. I´ve been offered a Pulsar 2 for 470€, is that a good price? The plugs i would get are:
Minimax, Pro-12, Prodyssey, Protone
Effects Package 1, Effects Package 2, SPLAttacker, Modular III, Modular 2, Mixer Package 1, STS-2000P, STS-3000, SPL16, Synthesizer Package 1, Synthesizer Package 2, Main Studiotools Package, Scope 4.5.
Also my mobo is nforce4, is that a problem? |

hi Resco,
theres no problem with it since u got the Minimax, Pro 12 and all that. The SB 404 would be nice... look if u get it , but even if u dont this is a good price. Not too much not perfect but if u want it , don´t hesitate!

Hi mates,
yes Spindrift, u´re right. Im not about to get a Soundcard with DSP mixing. Its about fx and synthesis.
I found an offer for an creamware Pulsar 2 scope - 6 sharc DSP´s and loads of tools and software. I can get this card for 400 british pounds ( 580 euros ).
What do u think at all - is this a good price?
Should i nail it within this ?
Cheers

Hi there
Can you tell where did you saw this price for the Pulsar ???
At this price i surely will get one...
Minimax;Pro-12;Creamware Modular and many more from Darkstar ....
BTW i have a ASUS P4C800E-deluxe with Corsair
2gb;and 2xUAd-1,1x POCO PCI;1xPOCO firewire, with no hassle in PCI bandwidth!!
Thinking of buying a AMD X2 4400/4800(not sure yet),and i know that for this kind of processor the Nvidia chipset more adequate.. |
