The GM drums sound bad. no other way to say that. unless u have a strong module with general midi samples ( and good samples ) the gm drums are "low quality-bad sampled"...
if u have good samples (which can be found EVERYWHERE this days.. or even record yourself! ) use a soft-drum machine, like b-box, or the lm series of steinberg, or even reason!... dont use the general midi stuff, no good...

a good starting point for a certain type of kick drum sound is the infected mushroom homepage:

http://www.infected.co.il/

then 'electronic' then 'home studio' then 'kick drum tutorial'

but creating good kicks is a long journey (and i've just stopped off on route for a sandwich)

Sometimes the drum samples on a _good_ synth can be ok starting point for kicks if you do a lot of messing around in sound forge. But then you may as well start from scratch in fact....

Get Waldorf Attack and a tutorial that explains how to create kick drum.
I always forget myself how to do it.
Only in Sound Forge as written on Infected site           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

D.Drum is fucking expensive... It's good only if you pro Drummer, or bored man with too much money. But it's a very cool thing!
