I was thinking about this too today actually and wondering if there are midi files of drum fills just to learn, or samples just to learn from.

For me, mixing up in 16ths snare and toms does good, throwing in some kick here and there.

some examples (in triplet 16ths):

k = kick s = snare

k.s.s.k.s.s.k.s.s.k.s.k.s.

i use this fill a lot, and if you move around stuff, as long as it's quantized it sounds great. I think that goes for any fill.

i don't understand. do you use another kick and snare on the regular 1/4 kick and 1/2 snare?

chichke we are talking about drum fills... phrases commonly lasting 1 bar in which rythm is changed or broken to another time signature or just where nice drum rolls and hits take place just before a crash.

So he is talking about using SAME kick n snare just in a different manner for a short time just before next section begins.

By the way thank you all for your comments, im still learning lots on this.
