hey guys I am about to purchase a compressor for the drum/ mix buss and wanted to see if anyone has experience with the following:
g series ssl
smart c2
API 2500 |

api is good for drum/mix bus ,mastering ... ssl clones are good too but can narrow a little the stereo and can remove a bit of bottom end (it can be nice making it tight )and it s a bit cleaner, api is beefy with nice color and versatile with all the settings...
ssl might maybe be a bit more punchy, i dont know..but api color is nice and still good punch.
there is a better clone for that ssl type of compression, with transformer output / sidechain filter gonna check the name |

it s the Dramastic Audio Obsidian Compressor and i think there is a mastering edition with extra setting (switchable transformer output for color and extra sidehcain freqeuncy if i remmeber)imo it s more intresting than the smart and ssl cause of the extra settings.
with these ssl comp for electronic music a sidechain filter can be a good option to have and i think both the smart and ssl don t have one by default... |

i mixed the obsidian with the tk audio but both seems great , i would really like to try them ! api you can t go wrong but these too probably work really good too..

i was reading on the Obsidian , it look like a great enhanced clone of that classic design . it s suposed to sound wide and preserve the low end with the ssl grab and glue |
