Driver works fine at cubase but logic gets overload!

Hi to all!
I recently started producing on logic enviromment and everything was fine until i got a new computer. I hd (still hv) this old machine, (atlon 2.4ghz 1gb RAM, soundcard audiophile 2406) and cubase used to get overload very easy, i could use mostly 10 main VSTi, sometimes when i got the 8º or 9º the track was already clipping a lot. I use in my old machine a m-audio asio driver, the one that comes with the soundcard. I didnt noticed any difference when talking about cpu performance issue when i upgraded from my creative sound blaster to the audiophile.. with both i worked with biggest buffer.
The point is:
In the old machine i intalled logic and my projects works very very smooth.. i use like 30 instances of logic es2 + lots of othes logic pluggins (like esx24 , which are quite smooth at cpu usage) and the projects dont get cpu overlod. The i try to load the same project at the new machine (a atlon turion x2 1gb ram, kind like a intel dual core bla bla bla..) and the project get cpu overload. I tryed different drivers like direct sound, asio for all but all of them get cpu overload. When i set the asio4all driver at cubase and it works wonderfull.. the projects that were overloaded cpu at the old machine are like 40/50% cpu usage in the new machine (dual core).
So, logic works good at my old amd shitty machine but fail in the new one, which has much more cpu power! Any sugestions?
When dealing with cubase things are going logical, but what is happening to logic makes no sense to me!
Is there any driver for logic i am missing?
i use logic 5.5, pc version!
thanks to all! logic rox, couldnt imagine it was so smooth like that.. need to figger out what is going on in my computer!           www.myspace.com/beehivelive

Ps: I hd in the old machine a audiophile 2496, not 2406 as i said in the last post. Whatever, i guess the problem has nothing to do with the soundcard...
Its a AMd Turion 64 (1.6ghz) X2, 1gb RAM(support dual channel), 120gb HD (satta), videocard 256mb.
The old one is a atlon 2.4gz (but the clock only says 1.99ghz), not dual channel, old ddr style .. and even with those much less power configs. it still works logic with no overload, while the same project at the new computer gets overloaded!
help me please!

Logic uses only one CPU for processing.
So if you had 2Ghz before, now you have only 1.6ghz.

I noted before that there is a trick to make logic use the second cpu by inserting an i/o plugin on one of the channels, and each bus/aux that is connected to that channel will start using the second cpu.
Please check how this helps you.           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

Jesus u are scaring me man! I noticed that if i play even just the kick and bass 4 example , the project still get cpu overload.... very weird, isnt it? How could just two channels cause cpu overload?
Anyway, thanks for the tip, i will see what i can do!
cheers! 10x!           www.myspace.com/beehivelive

If you are getting an overload with just kick and bassline, it appears to be another problem mate...

to see if it's a driver prob, try using the EASI driver instead of ASIO (i think maudio has that one too)           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

Hey man, could u explain to me this trick in detail? I particullary didnt understand about the plugin issue. Which kind a plugin is this? I am hving a hard time with cpu overload and logic on this new machine, it was suppose to be the opposite!
thanks in advance!           www.myspace.com/beehivelive

It does get cpu overload when i raise the volume. The disk i/o metters are ok, almost never in use, but the audio metters get at the top all the time, and then cpu overload msgs comes with that. if i turn off the volume than the project plays fine..
do u guys think it could be due the lack of a good soundcard, considering i hv good amount of Ram , hd and cpu power..? I am using a notebook acer 5100-5196, turion 64 x2, onboadsoundcard.

You are using an onboard soundcard? with ASIO drivers?

My experience with onboard soundcards and Logic taught that it doesn't work well... I suggest you get a decent soundcard with its own ASIO drivers.

For the meantime, you can try using the emagic EASI driver, run easi setup file (logic folder) and raise the latency. Configure Logic to use EASI.

One thing u could try is CTRL+ALT+DEL while the logic is on, then find the Logic.exe from the processes, click the right mouse button over it and choose the "set affinity". If the program is old, it doesn't know how to use both cores, so that way you can make windows "help" the program do it.

Also, have u made sure that you Windows (XP I presum e) has been fixed to take all the advantage of dual core processor?

There's a hot fix patch for that and some stuff u gotta do for registry to make it full blow.

Hey man thx a lot, i could get logic to work with LESS cpu overload msgs but the problem is still not solved.
I used this "set affinity trick" and the results was that logic get working with the easy mme drivers. None of the Asio worked with that. The problem is that it is very unstable, sometimes i get to work but if i turn off logic then i hv a hard time to make it work again. Everytime i reset logic i hv to set the affinity, but it doesnt work all the time, lots of times not even this work.
Do i neew to registry to get one of those fixing packs by microsoft? I guess maybe that could help.
Man, i m so fucking nervous with this situation, this is pissing me of so much, i feel like shit           www.myspace.com/beehivelive

Ola!
The problem is apparently solved. I got a hot fix pack from microsoft and voila! Also got the amd version but it just worked when i intalled the microsoft one. My processor is amd, but the pack is dedigned to any tecnology of dual core and similar processors. I hope i dont hv to come back here with this subject, all my tries before apparently worked but them failed.
Thnk u all , really helpfull tips. thats why this forum rocks.           www.myspace.com/beehivelive
