The Doctor is back
After nine successful years as 'Der Dritte Raum', Andreas Krueger is presenting his research results now also as Dr.DNA
again. The world of science is enthusiastic about his new album 'Research & Development'.
Actually this album is both intensively dancefloor suited and perfect for home listening. Not, because it is a simple, pleasing
Techno/House/Trance mixture, but because this is the unmistakable characteristic of Krueger typical compositions.
An own, honest style, developed from Techno in a long and attentive process.
The continuous and continuously danceable mix supports the rhythmic flow across multiple peaks. Bass-, melody- and
rhythmic centrism alternates. Atmosphere, groove, pressure, escalation, hardness - all included and perfectly combined.
Real relaxation is only guaranteed towards the end of the album.
'Metalbase!' is one of the album highlights. Metallic escalation with double ramp. Endless build-up without breakdown or simple cheats. If you don't orient yourself to the massive bass line, you're going to loose.
At 'Particle Disco' the special House groove is superposed with several sophisticated melodies, layered intelligently. A
masterpiece!
With 'Paraharmonic' and 'The Theunissen Constant' some genuine trancers are supplied, complemented by 'Dance
Conversion', which is real Trance Funk.
This is for time travellers and the retro crowd: 'Crystalline Structures' lets some '93 roots gleam through, crystal clear.
But it does it in a quality impossible back in those days. 'Spectral Variation #23', 'Cruising Sequence Started' and
'Unexpected Appearances' are somewhat calmer, partial experimental tracks. Listening well is worthwhile. With the Ambient track 'Jupiterwaves 7450' the album ends in a relaxed way.
What happened so far
Andreas Krueger is an active electronics musician since 1985. The project 'Eiskalte Gaeste' (with Jens Fahlbusch) leads from
synthie pop to EBM- and Industrial elements and to the first LP release. In 1992 Techno revolutionizes Andreas's creative
processes by adding new expression possibilities: Dr.DNA The EP 'Animalution' (1993, Con-Science) and the album
'Heliomorph' (1994, Polytox) were celebrated Dr.DNA releases, which hit the still young and emerging Techno parties at exactly the right time. Arranged by Sven Vaeth, Andreas got in touch with Harthouse and later with Virgin, this led to an amazing constant output of six quality albums within
nine years.
Especially because of his clear confession to Techno, Andreas Krueger keeps track of the closer and wider stylistic ranges. In
the past with projects like 'Plaste & Elaste' (Le Petit Prince), 'Perpetuum Mobile' (Confused), 'Solid State' (Synchronicity),
'2002' (Casa Magnetica), 'Der Stern von Afrika' (with Marcus Carp, U.Site), the somewhat more experimantal D3R album
'Distanz', and with current projects like 'Interstellar Overdrive'
(together with Andreas Betten, Vorsprung durch Technik).
The 'Studio fuer Unerhoertes'
Good ideas and outstanding compositions need a perfect production. As it is necessary for this range of research, the doctor's laboratory often moved. From a swimming pool in Goettingen to the german mountain region called Harz, then to a former train station and finally to Berlin. Sound research at high level requires special methods and extensive equipment well above scientific standards. Being laboratory director and
chief engineer, Dr.DNA stands for experience and permanent development on highest level. And this is audible.
