i wouldnt obsess too much about this, it really doesnt make a difference in the sound if u put a mono sound/synth on a stereo track, so just always go stereo unless ur sure something is mono. Putting a stereo sound in mono is the only way u can go wrong

not talking bout neone mate, u gave great tips for mixing , think u misunderstood me real sryy im not good with words, just trying to help him saying that if not sure if a synth is mono or stereo go stereo and by having a mono sound in stereo your not compromising your sound which sounded like he was worried about,

yeh he was makin sumthing more complicated than it actually was....makin a problem out of nuthing, confusion...
misunderstandings always happen with txt words, why it best to keep it simple - i dont tho lol ..
then again his question lead to more doors bieng opened even if was a mis judged one..
but yeh your right...and to be honest i still dont understand the nature of his question lol and he has dissipated from his own question... owell...more learnt more gained...

if your two speakers (left and right) play the same thing at the same time at the same level you have mono...
you need 2 channels with a slight difference to create the stereo imaging (or if you like to make a sound wide). for example volume! when you pan something you just change the volume in each speaker and you create stereo image.
another example
you have a mono channel with a synth playing
duplicate it and pan these channels left and right... nothing changed! you still have a mono imaging! because its the same thing going out of your speakers at the same time at the same level. now pitch up... lets say the left channel. dafuq?!?! it just turned to stereo! you need only a slight difference (not huge) to make it wide (its psychoacoustic or something)
change whatever you like on the one of your panned channels and you have stereo i m a g e.
got it?
