What you'r trying to do is
very tricky...
It will be alot easier for you to buy
a dual-output matrox card...

thing is this - we got two diffrent screens.... and they need diffrent cards. we got the cards but now we have to install it all again. nightmare. DJ Boris says that the two screens and cards should be completely the same - something we cant afford. will the dual-output matrox card support two diffrent screens?

I don't think a dual output card can do that,
but don't take my word for it.
What OS are you using?
98 or NT?

I have an ATI Rage M1 card (with capability for extra monitor) and it works with my 14" AND a 20".....  they just have to be at the same resolution.

It is cool to have dual monitors for cubase I must say. That extra desktop space is quite usefull.

thanks but worry not - its working!! and its working big time!! 2 screens (14" + 17" ) and 2 diffrent screen cards (vga and pci) on the same computer, with 2 diffrennt resolutions and its amazing! its sitting on windows 98. the whole problem was that the tv card we had installed was confusing the system. once removed - the rest clicked in by it self.
and its such a plus to work this way - cubase on one screen - pluggins on the other, 3dat and acid simultaniosly and the winning feature- the screen saver moves from screen to screen!! :) wahey!!

Who uses a screen saver? Such an annoying thing...
And what do you mean by VGA and PCI? You must mean ISA and PCI.
One slot big (ISA) the other one small (PCI).
