Hi there fellow geeks,
Do any of you know of a plugin similar to waves doppler?
I don't mind paying for my software, but 100 dollar is a bit steep for such an simple plugin imho... Any alternatives?

you can also do it manually with careful automation of pitch, panning, volume and reverb. You need to correlate the values in a smart way, all of these parameters have to work as one.

Have you tried this method yourself?

Thanks for all the replies so far.
Panorama is about the same price as doppler. Both a bit steep for just a small effect imho.
Through automation is possible and the cheap options but I doubt it ll sound convincing. Guess I ll have to try it though unless I want to spend some bucks.
The adoppleren vst is only for windows I am afraid and I am on a mac...

it's not that hard to do it using automation. volume rises as it approaches the listener, there's more highs then lows first, then it gets to its full signal when it meets the listener, then it drops in frequency and volume. so volume rises then drops, you can make it more abrupt when it finally meets the observer - it can make it much more realistic. panning is easy enough, exponencial curves are essencial for this. you can add some reverb, maybe a convolution one if you want a really realistic effect, don't go over board here as you don't want to wash away the sound completely, just add some realistic space/dimension to it.
really, just have a go. it's really not that hard to do it!
if you happen to own Reaktor, try this:

I have done it manually for a movie once and it convinced everybody! Just do it well, the correlations have to work together in unity!
