"For all the high end components contained within the 7700M (915 chipset, a FULL DESKTOP Pentium 4 Extreme Edition 800Mhz FSB 3.2Ghz, DDR2 Ram, 7200rpm SATA drive with RAID controller...) it benchmarked worse than my previous 865 based Mobile Pentium based system but I digress."

I can't believe you even considered buying a labtop where the manufacturer can consciently put a chip which has been known to run at 58°C idle (64°C load) inside a labtop!!

Although I don't deny that alienware sucks ass (they do) you should have done more research as this is a company that caters to GAMERS and they do not care about the noise nor heat.

You have my sympathies though, I hope your struggle is not in vain

really really bad indeed.

notebooks are very delicate machines, everythings needs to be perfect. its not just a square box with lots of space inside like a desktop.

i recently bought a notebook and i was almost buying a Tsunami (which is not a very known manufacture), top performance in everything, cheaper than every other i´ve seen considerings its specifications. but giving it a second thought how can a small manufacture have better prices than bigger companies. they don´t. the quality of what they are selling talks for itself. so in the very last moment i changed my mind and i bought a Asus, with little less in specifications but until now i couldn´t be happier with my choice.

if you´re buying a notebook never go for whiteline computers or less know manufactors. it´s better to have a computer a little bit inferior but of a trustfull manufactor that gives you garantees of what they are selling.

hope you can solve his out as quickly as possible.

hhmmm i dont realy agree on that lithium i have bot a laptop from a (nobody knows us co) and is great !!

i think if you consider to check what box they use and what hardware they put into it and make some research about the compatibility and quality of the harware if all is ok propably it will work great!!

mine is at least

but alienware sucks big time to much for nothing!!

Now I'm scared shitless after reading this. I just put $500 down on an AMD based Aurora. They are ready to build it (one or two parts were back ordered) and want to collect the rest of the payment.

I decided on this machine because I must have Type II Cardbus slot for my EMU 1616M and I wanted the AMD specs (3800) or equivalent. I realize I probably don't need that much performance power but it's nice to know it's there.

I knew going in that the machine would be a bit heavy and noisy, but this sounds unacceptable. I've only read a few horror stories on Alienware from my research, but the ones I did read, the people are REAL pissed off.

Is there any luck in store for me with the new AMD machines? I may be fuc*ed here.

Maybe I can get my credit card company to dispute the $500 charge and jump ship now. Or maybe I can take my chances....           ELECTRON EYES / MARK-EVAN (NOR. CAL)
