1) Ok. First of all. Your Bass. Its crazyness. Dont use reverb on bass. Low pass it on 30 hz, and EQ and compress it. Change melody of bass. Try shorter notes and dont use it so often. It s really difficult to listen your track cos of this crazy bassline.
2) When i high pass your track in 75 herz i can judge some other aspects. High pass your synthlines. And percussion too.
3) dont use limiter so cruel, give more dinamics to your track.
Do this first and come back with new version. We can give you more advices then.
Now let me ask one question. What do you use to make this track? |

Thanks for the critique (I think!). To answer your questions:
1) There is no reverb on the bass. It definitely needs to be highpassed, yes. I discovered this when I tried to listen to the song in my car and the bass sounded totally different. It was not loud at all, though, so I don't know why you say to turn the level lower.
2) Highpass the percussion and leads? Are they heavy on the low frequencies?
3) I did not use a limiter at all, and only used compression on the drums and bass.
I'll try some of your suggestions and see what happens.

- it can be "realese" or too long notes..
2) Highpass the percussion and leads? Are they heavy on the low frequencies?
- hipass yes , they are not heavy on the low end but they do have some of it and it blend with bass usualy..
3) I did not use a limiter at all, and only used compression on the drums and bass.
- i wouldnt know about this one , need to check the settings
good luck and post a newr vesion!
cheers

After spending an hour tweaking the bass synth patch by changing the amplitude and filter releases, shortening note durations, high-passing the bassline at 100 Hz, etc., I realized that I *wanted* the bass to sound that way! It's supposed to be like a "growling" bassline. Maybe it's annoying to some (or most) people, but so it is. On my stereo system, I liked the way it sounded, and I think I still do.
I *do* know how to make a "normal" trance bass line, but I wanted to do something different. Whether it's good or bad, I dunno, but it's definitely different.
Thanks for your advice and making me rethink things, though.
Now you've got me worried that the freqencies in my tracks are "stepping on" each other because I'm not high-passing them correctly. I'm afraid there might be digital clipping going on, too, so if you have 20 seconds. . . here's the beginning of a new tune: http://www.filefactory.com/file/7c2635/
