The paypal option is not going through. I really want to buy it direct with paypal balance but if it's not going to work I'm not sure what else to do.

what are you talking about? yeah, producing plastic for the sake of carring a bunch of ones and zeros is cutting edge.... Oh and don't forget the paper booklets we need to include with the plastic. The world needs more trash, eh?
all the guy needs to get my support is an FTP site with his tracks on it and a paypal account. Actually, you don't even need an FTP site; you can get website templates that allow for you to sell your tracks directly from your website.

PS:
maybe some artists, they dont give a fuck of have an ftp for sell music,
maybe they are working hard in the studio for pay bilds at the end of the month,,,
so, maybe they dont have time for make this nice web pages you talking about.
&
we are not all expert in kilobits-lines-codes-on-theweb.
so, from the top of your imense knowledge on digital shops,
why not write to don peyote (for example) and do for him his personal shop ?
can be nice to help artists you like isn'it ? |

dude, no need to get all resentful.
you can get a website template service that allows you to sell your music online for $20 a month (I also am not even close to being an expert on kilobits-lines-codes-on-theweb). If you need an example, i'll take this moment to shamelessly self promote: just take a look at my crappy site(s) http://www.paranoidzen.com/apalala.cfm http://www.paranoidzen.com/remoteviewer.cfm
Granted, i'm struggling to give my tracks away, but the option is there to charge whatever I want. its so easy man.

its kind of sad to me that you think this idea is soooooo far out there. you seem to be pinning me for being the type that glorifies ideas as MINE, rather I find it shocking that when its so simple to sell your music online, so many artists are still exclusively selling physical matter. where's the forethought?
and don't give me the canned lecture about "supporting the artist" because I have spent so much money downloading psychedelic ambient/chillout music. Hell, when I wanted the Astropilot album, I wrote to him personally telling him that i wanted it, but it wasn't available for legal download anywhere, and within a week he had contacted his label and got it up on cytopia.org.
you'll have to excuse my ongoing protest of the global throw-away culture that is so prevalent in these times. I try to forget, but it weighs too heavy on the earth-conscious part of my being. No matter how long a person keeps those cd's, even if its 70 years, they are still destined to become trash.
have fun with with your petroleum based synthetic materials and chemically coated paper. maybe you could take them all out to the woods soon and play them on a sound system powered by an obnoxious gas guzzling generator. oh, and you can probably get a bunch of people there to hear it if you print up a few thousand chemically coated paper flyers

once again, i'm not really sure what you mean. are you asking how much money I make? or what I do for a living? my profession is in the printing industry; pretty ironic, eh? you may proceed with your ad hominem argument against me regarding my line of work

Maybe we should discuss how online digital errors can prevent someone from buying/supporting. I tried ordering the Don Peyote CD from his site using the paypal "balance" method (I had ample funds no doubt) and it seems there was an error with transaction going through on paypal's end. I wanted to try again but I received a warning popup stating that I could be billed each time I click the send payment button and since I wasn't sure if it actually did or didn't go through (it never took me to a transaction complete page) I wasn't going to take a chance of being double billed becuase hard telling if I would get my "unwanted second purchase" funds back. I've never had a problem with an online shop such as www.saikosounds.com so it seems to be the most viable method for me to obtain a CD but not necessarily the best for direct support.
What is the customer or the artist supposed to do in this case? Don Peyote is losing my direct sale because the purchase system failed me the first time I tried.

I was probably the first in line to get this one. I love his style, since first disovering him through ganga giri collaborations and spending a lot of time and energy tracking down his collaboration with naasko.
"peyote dreaming" is a great piece of work. yvon is a great guy i'm sure if you contact him directly you can work something out. no matter how you obtain your copy.
re: the side topics running through this thread... support our scene however you can, email the artists, even some encouraging words to them personally or a good review go a long way here.
ps. i very much prefer direct artist support like quasga mentioned, but sometimes it's difficult dealing with different technologies even nowdays nothing is foolproof. paypal is usually the way to go, but even that has it's drawbacks. we'll get there one day i suppose
