i hop everyone is doing 5n
ok here i go...
i started making tracks in cubase sx a week ago and have honestly felt tht its much more fun than what i ever felt while using fruity loops for 2 yrs ...
now the problem im facing is tht , for all the pads , strings and synth sections cubase is doing a very wonderful job 4 me
but where im getting screwed is the drums and the percussions ...
i was importing drum loops and all percussion parts frm fruity as audio files in cubase and working ...
but it isint soo smooth as i want it 2 be ..
how do u ppl do drums in cubase ??
i tried out with battery and works good ..
is there any other alternative or a better way to do drums in cubase ??
pls hlp mw wid this ...
i wanna do all snare rolls , breakdowns and crash parts in cubase itself ...
pls hlp ...
bye and take care ..

Well, Nectarios did a very good explanation which i agree with and i can add some tips too,
Me personally like battery for drum percussion(All kind of hats, snares, kicks, claps etc.) and halion for other kind of samples(long audio samples, Sound Effects and such)Halion is much more customizable.
anyway, I'm suggesting you to do the percussion audio only and not taking it from a physical synth so you can EQ each sound and compress it.
ofcourse you can mixdown the physical synth for this purpose.
also, get a good samples which match toghether for example you can use alike drum kits - it will make your things sound good without a big effort.
Cubase don't have a step sequencer like you used to in FL but you can put yourself in a 4 or 8 bars loop and add sound by sound until you will get a nice loop.
no magics or secrets, work hard and you will pass this phase easily
Good luck,

guys thanks for ur ppls hlp ..
but here is wat i actually have problem with ...
i make my drum patterns in fruity and my breakdown patteerns as well ..
now lets say im using kick , snare , ohh, chh and clap .
i bounce each instrunet as a different file and then open each of them as a seperate audio trk in cubase coz then i get full control on all of them ..
but the fuck up is tht , when i wanna introduce a breakdown , which i make complex ones ...
every instrument's pattern changes and so i again have to export each of them seperately and then again assign each of them a seperate audio trk and a channel in the mixer in cubase ...
isint there any easy or better way around abt this ...
by the way , the version of battery tht im using is pretty old and even though gives me 8 stereo outs , all of them even being assigned to different midi trks in the mixer , remain glued to just 1 audio channel in the mixer ...
so i'm screwed ...
now im using halion 2 and things r working 5n as i can do entire drum section in cubase itself without having to open fruity
any better options ... pls hlp

I think i don't understand the problem,
if you taking for example battery, load let's say 6 .wav samples, kick, snare, chh, ohh, crash and claps- sending them all to seperate mono channels- eq each one of them and then on the sequencer you do whatever patterns you like- where is the problem?
if you seperate each one of them to different block- you can make whatever changes you like without import the sounds again for do another job- and if you like you can export all the breakdown part to an audio channel and then effect him with whatever effects you like,
if i'm too stoned and missed your point then explain the problem more brightly

if your battery cant give you multiple audio outputs, find a newer version!
are you sure you're doing it right?
battery would be useless to me without tons of outputs.
anyway...i was under the impression you could run FL as a VSTi?

Kontact 1.5 has a new sample slicer that you could use. You could also use Phatmatic Pro to do the same thing. Export your loop from FLP, then import the sample into a beat slicing plugin like Kontact 1.5 or Phatmatic pro. After that you should be able to resequence your drums however you want to in Cubase.
