offthenutboom is right on target... build it and they will come! If you live in a town, or go to school in a city with no "scene", get right up and start one. Help offthenutboom throw a small party and see what happens. Miami is similar to Hawaii in that they love the hip hop and the house muzak. After 5 long months, we are going to bring psytrance to Honolulu for the first time EVER! The US is a big place and scenes are being built everyday, do your part... onward psychedelic warrior!!!

With local DJ's or something?? Last I heard there is no scene there. In fact, progressive trance has been missing there as well. The only live acts to come to Hawaii were for the Ring of Fire on the Big Island. Simon P. and others.. If you know some ppl from the local scene there, please forward any info if you can. The islands are surely not prepared for the psychedelic madness of Neuromotor, Hyper Frequencies, E.S.X.S and Crazy Lion's Cult. (:

for me! psy trance exists in Miami - in:
1. my home stereo
2. my car
3. radio on Friday night (the Womb)
4. very rarely on the small partys (there were 3 partys since feb. 2003)

p.s. i see more ppl talking here than it realy exists somewhere in real life!

It is my belief that there will never be a psytrance scene in Miami as you know it other places.
You cant jsut drop a 'scene' somewhere and expect it to take off. Scenes develop, and if it develops here , it will likely develop different than what you know in other parts of the world. So I would not expect the same scene to happen here as in other parts of the wolrd.

It is funny how the scene is talked about in third person by somebody who is part of it. Either we take the initiative or WE will never happen.

Chaos, it is a pity that for all the time you have been here and with your experience organizing events, you have not even tried to put an event together. So honestly, stop complaining.

Hi guys. I'm surprised this thread has over 20 posts now. Last time I checked, it only had five.

Besides being bogged down with school work up to my ass, I managed to send that stupid radio station, WVUM two emails. The first one I sent them didn't even get a return response. I may've sent it to the wrong email. Below is the second one. I sent this one to the general manager:

This is the second time im attempting to email you guys. I emailed you all using the info email address, but I didn't get a response.

I am a student at UM who listens to a lot of electronica music. Much of this genre of music is not apperciated in america because many people do not really know too much information about it. However, it is popular in many other parts of the world. This is just one of the reasons why the U.S. considers much of electronica music as the so called "underground" music, when this isn't neccesarily true.

I read on the website that you guys would consider playing underapperciated forms of music if its something that is suitable to your tastes.

This type of electronica music does not sound like the typical dance/trance music played mostly in the U.S.. It sounds much different, and in alot of ways much better than what most people have heard. Much of it is also listenable at home.

My main purpose, most of all, is to get some of the people at this school to take notice in other forms of music. Some of the sub-genre's in electronica are:

Dance - the genre most americans get trance confused with.
(Below is genuine trance. Many countries have different styles of trance,i.e. swedish, israeli, scandiavian, etc)
Goa trance
psytrance - the most innovative style of trance music today. It sounds different from alot of music out there. Forms such as jungle, funky-style,etc are classified in this genre.
progressive trance - the newest form of trance.
---------
House
Progressive house
Hard House
lounge
Ambient
Chillout
Triphop
Drum and base
World

And the list continues to grow. If you guys even give it some consideration to listening to some of it, then I will gladly send you a copy of a cd of one of the most popular artist around.

Please respond. Other people, besides myself, are trying to get electronica music more known each and everyday in america. However, most people do not pay them any attention. PLease do not do the same. Give it a chance.

Well it's a start. So far, I've actually gotten one person to listen to infected mushroom. He has downloaded some of their songs, that I recommended, and so far, he likes it. I have another friend who is a fan of world music, and she stated she would listen to some of infected's music when she gets her labtop. I have a friend from china, and I can try to get her to listen to some of it. If she can dea withl chinese rap, then this shouldn't be a problem. I'm gonna try to sweet talk her into listening to some of it.

Most importantly guys, we should try to start small. We just can't put our foot down and force them to listen. I don't think they'll do it. The school's radio station is a start. If that doesn't work, then I will consider trying to contact the dance radio station here. Since they actually play some form of electronica on it, then they may give it a chance. If the school radio station doesn't respond this time, then I'll go to the station in person about it. If I do, do any of you guys have any proposals or other information we could use to get them to notice???

I'm out guys. L8r.

man, dont give up! we'll make em listen 2 the right music , otherwise . even if they will - dont give up! put another cd and if they will be still - then we will all come up
and try 1 more time! the main thing is to make them stop listen to chineese rap - then it will be easier!
respect, u r very decisive, Man!           www.vertigo-records.com

Thanks for sending the emails. I have been @ WVUM in the past and have worked in two college radios here in Florida. The best thing to do is to visit the station and talk to the program director or any of the managers. Ask them how can you get a show. If they ask you the theme of the show, just tell them psychedelic trance + other electronic music. You can also tell them you have a whole bunch of DJs from THE WOMB (http://www.thewomb.com) with years of radio experience and talent already lined up Also ask them if there is a procedure to bring guests (DJs).

I am sure you will have to go through an internship process and they will have to teach you a few procedures you have to follow + training on equipment etc...

Of course do it if you have time and if you really would like to do it It would be really cool if this became a reality since we would be able to bring to the light this music.

My email is dharma_kshetra@yahoo.com

If you want to come to today's (Friday) show @ http://www.thewomb.com we will be there from 8PM til 10PM. Send me an email and I will give you my ph# for directions. We will play one hour of techno and one hour of psy trance. Sometimes we stay til midnight... It all depends on the DJ that plays after us

Cheers

it´s quite funny this in a big country like America, no offense guys!

i´m from a little country called Portugal and here, we have a very strong scene, it exist since 93, i´m in the scene at 6years ago now and at that time partys was not such regular, there was all that mysticism and enjoyment, the ppl shared their feelings, emotions and all that things.
Now the scene is quite saturated,a lot of promoters, partys and less ppl, a lot of exposition in magazines, newspapers that brings some unless ppl to the partys that doesn´t understand the spirit and in some partys the vibes are not so good....

Like almost all types of music, the beginning is allways the best moment, the true moment

Cheers
