is the potential of a 800 mhz processor exploited with a 677 mhz ram memory or it's just a waste of money? would a 677 mhz processor give same performance?

what?

these to have different uses man!

and i dont think u will find a 800mhz cpu nowadays!!
an pentium 3? they dont support 667 memories anyway!

exept if u are talking about front side bus of the cpu? than this has nothing to do with the ram speed!

Performance vary from motherboard to motherboard some at 800fsb perform better than some at 1066 mhz.

to answer your question mounting 667mhz ram on a motherboard should still allow you to run the fsb at 800mhz, if your motherboard fsb does it.

what i mean is :
with the same mainboard and the same RAM chip with a 677 mhz fsb speed, does a processor with 800 mhz fsb speed give better performance then a processor with 677 mhz fsb speed

if there's a performance difference is it enough to justify 200 euro more cost?

^^
Nope i'd spend those 200 euros on something that really counts like the processor itself or a faster harddisk etc...           http://www.soundcloud.com/getafixmusic

If your motherboard has an fsb of 800, it should go faster theoraticaly. But as I said before it depends of the motherboard

what processor and motherboard are you talking about any way. I had a company called apollo audio computers, I can advice on a good piece.

FSB speed and memory speed don't have to be the same.

Memory speed is linked to FSB through a divider.

It's completely normal to have different FSB and memory speed on todays motherboards.

exactly!
and it's for sure better to buy a m/b that supports high fsb speeds in terms of performance-asssuming that u have a cpu that supports that speed too!
