i just think people should know and beware and not mess around with people who work like this...

I figured a quick accounting is in order so people can see the extent of the DEBT that I have accrued as well as the % of tracks that have been settled up.
Its suprising that for all this flack its suprisingly a small number that is actually owed... but just for your curiousity and a snap shot of what its like here it is =-)

Keep in mind that the agreements I have with 90% of the artists is for a deffered payment AT LEAST 90 days after the release hits the shelf. To make up for the patience that is required in working with my grass roots style label I offer an animated music video that is worth by industry standards for high end 3D animation 10x or more what the tracks are priced at. Usually this sort of offer is not even on the table for 99% of the trance labels on the planet so everyone signing a track or album with geomagnetic is already getting a potential not existing anywhere else. I have more information that I will share with everyone soon but I figured this is a good start for cleaning up any questions as to my integrity...
and ps Mr Energy Loop... your senseless accuasations of considering me a thief are ludicrious. You knew the deal with the contract/agreement before you sent me the masters to the tracks... you also had said you would help Spazzz to do a cd release party to help cover the cost of the cd. You also were one of the people helping me to get the agreements passed on to the artists on Civilysed Chaos so you knew exactly what I was offering and asking to be a part of the cd and the label. I never promised any money at a certain time. I made sure and keep the exact payment date a vague a suggested part of the agreement just so I wouldnt be lying or dishonest if the payment was late. The agreement even states that the payments come from the first funds raised after cover p+d costs for the cd. Every single penny that was raised from the cd went to the artists on the cd just like was promised in the agreement.
Also fyi I took a brief hiatus from the label to go raise some $ to pay off artists. I did a huge visibility gig for Elton John through some dude called "Stephen G" working through a huge Production company called Nocturne. Well they promised me Thousands of dollars and then screwed me at the last second after getting their footatge and Elton making literally millions of dollars off my work. The nearly $18,000 promised me was going to cover ALL of my debts to the trance community and let me actually do some advances for once for my future cds...
So I am still doing my best to get paid for the ELTON FIASCO but that wont stop me from raising the $4560 I need to pay off my loyal artists. Big things are in the works. Being on board now is more important than ever. I am willing to forgive all name calling and any bad vibes sent my way if you all listen to my humble report and realize I am doing my best with a challenging situation.
The USA is waking from its slumber and when it does we will be one of the most important parts of the world psytrance-community. I think its better to be in on the ground floor of something big than get angry over $200. Since the most emotional folks have made their position clear where they stand and what their support means I will remember it all and keep it in mind as we grow and evolve. Geomagnetic is here to stay. We have grown by leaps and bounds in a short time (we started in 2001!). Things have been moving fast and with a little more support and patience will blossom to become a really beautiful part of the tapestry evolving around the world =)

From what I understand, in his role as a distributor with "crystal code," he made a "laughably low" offer per CD for our album released with Gaian Mind to Allen, his reasoning for the low offer was that we wouldn't be "where we are today" without all of his hard work and promotion...
I believe the offer he made was somewhere around the cost Allen (gaian mind) spent to print our CDs (per CD) ...
kind of insulting, no?
especially after the long periods sans communication, and then today reading his post claiming that he had settled with us, when, in fact... he has not.

Hmm, Nathan, Its interesting to see you feel you've compensated so many artists for so much work. Its terrible that you were ripped off, really sucky, and i hope that gets settled soon. Don't think you can try the same thing on us though. Don't become that which you despise most.
Lets set somethings clear here dude:
As part of your label were supposed to get videos for all our tracks including payment for the track (The Video is for promotion but also for you to sell the DVD's which as far as i can tell we dont get any additional funding from)
San Fran Psychos - Agreed to 300 + Video, We got no $, no video (though i know there is now a video soon to be released)
Wellspring - You Relicensed a track from Chromatone and I for $200, no payment, no video.
Highway 4:20, Agreed to $300 for track, we havn't been paid. Additionally, There was a 4:20 party thrown by WitchDocta (Thanks dude!) for which Megadrop got paid a small amount for Performing our Live Set to a sold out packed like crazy crowd. After the fact, your claiming that this payment from Richard was to pay for our track?? That ones the biggest head scratcher.. How does payment we received for our live gig which we spent hours compiling and prepping to perform sepratley from writing music pay for our track. It dosn't. Very very Insulting..
Psychic Chakra You released our track on this comp without any consent or knowledge of mine. The track was not even finished when you took it from Ross. Shifty and Insulting Regardless, we expect the usual $300. not paid.
Full Lenght Album - Ive seen 0 promotion for this outside a Review in Revolve Magazine (Thanks Revolve Crew). Kinda weird considering this is coming out next month.
I'm expecting you to make good on this one sometime after it comes out.
Through it all I've always maintained that you can pay me when you can afford to. Its Hard to make a living in SF, and balance that with running a label, video production, and your own personal VJ/DJ promotion (for which your label does great things to promote you)
As a friend, I've chosen to give you some slack on your commitments, I continued to support your vision with my music & support.
BUT...
Dont think for a second though, that as an artist, I'm not keeping track of whats owed.

No offense to all the artists involved, but you are fools for having accepted to license your tracks in the first place without cash up front.
And for the artists whose tracks got released without their consent, next time quit giving them away ok? We live in the era of myspace, you no longer need to give quality masters to promote yourselves.
Now maybe you guys should cut your losses and move on, because sincerely as much as Dr Spook is to blame in all of this, you yourselves do not come out in a graceful light. Some of you boast having invested over 10000$ in your studios, as if that justified your over compensation. Maybe you artists should wake up and realise the economics of producing a very underground genre of music in today's musical climate, it is DIFFICULT and almost NEVER profitable. Maybe you should then rethink your choice of investments as a result.
However I believe that most of you would have invested so much money and time and effort regardless of the end result, so why complain then about a few hundred bucks? You all said it yourselves it is nothing, which leads me to believe that you aren't starving while sleeping among your 2000$ monitors and virus bs
Seriously, it sucks, but getting burned happens, thanks for warning any future artists who may have signed with Geomagnetic, how please let's stop beating this dead horse. |

Artists: Just create and play, just do gigs, and get a day job
Labels: forget cds, turn into event management companies, earn money from ticket sales, if u cant do that , then dont organise anything, just go to a party and enjoy. AND get a job.
Because the MP3's and P2P downloading will NEVER die!
