Back home in South Africa we are hearing alot of stories about more and more violence @ the parties , fights starting and people causing trouble , I was wandering what people thought about the style of psy(ie Dark ,Hard , aggresive music )had anything to do with the incresed levels of aggresion at parties?
I'm a firm believer in the fact that music plays a huge part on peoples psyche and that consciously or not the style of music has an impact on the psyche of a party goer/ So if the music is hard and aggresive (add to this massive amounts of alchohol and other substances) and you will get incresed levels of aggresion....
What are your views on this

Well you're going to see much more aggression at a Cannibal Corpse concert than at a Shulman gig so I guess there's some truth to your hypothesis. But all in all, I find the hard music lovers to be more peacefull than the mainstream clubbers. I mean commercial rap/hiphop/top40s is pretty soft music but it seems to be the soundtrack to most club fights.

i remember that ruckus at the last shulman and bluetech party
beer bottles flying
someone got out a bicycle chain
but it was all in good fun
it was over an argument whose live set was better

Ridiculous, of course Shulman's set was better *raises broken beer bottle* don't we all agree?

i think its not mainly the music
its due to the commercialisation of the scene.
more people come and so more rednecks and other dumbasses go there too.
there they can cause trouble without getting into trouble. the music is fancy.
beautiful girls will smile at them (maybe for the first time in their lifes)...
  - last possible solution
- trick music
- ambivalent records

this is good, very good.
the consequences start to face us.
just one point: if people minds wouldnt be influenced by music, no one would listen to it.

I think the more aggressive the music is, the more aggression it lets out of the audience.
The most violent people here in my country, they listen to pop music - And the softer and more fluffy "I love you kinda music" it is, the more violent they are.
The people I feel most safe around, in regards to the danger of violence, all listen to 100% dark psy.

Once again I have to say that this is a very very important point also imo!!!
Music is fancy and crazy, people are free on those partys that we all love so much....but some of those commercial dumbasses just missuse, that there aren't any rules made...
Don't get me wrong,I don't want to make rules on a party....that would destroy also the freedom on the partys.......so thats where it'll end imo, cause thats the reason why more and more heads will stop goin' to those great partys with all it's "stars" I mean with all it's shadows and lights.
And after this big boom, more and more dumbasses will leave and the real freaks, heads, fraggles will stay and come together again at those partys that made it so popular and that we like so much.......
That's the way it is...

i suppose if this position was corect then the audience of abient music should be the most calm and relaxed people in the world and those who prefer porn music should be full of sexual desire most of the time, but of course this is not the case in real life.
Aggrecive behavior should be justifiable only on the dance floor when dark psy is playing - not as general behavior. |

Damn right, give me a hour of Kenny G and Celine Dion and i'll go to the nearest mall and will start to shoot everybody i see.
So true. Nothing pisses me off more than Kenny G.
Perhaps Michael Bolton does.
