Do you REALLY Like Dark-Psy?

I know there have been a lot of threads about 'dark-psy' but they have either been people saying it's rubbish and not music at all, or saying it's great. That's not the point of this one.
What i'm asking is - if you say you like 'dark-psy' - do you REALLY like it?
Btw, when i say 'dark-psy' i don't necessarily mean music that is dark and menacing but 'music' that seems to be just a collection of random squeaks, squeals, squelches and whizzes.
I'm sure there are people that honestly do like it, and if this is the case you shouldn't be offended - but i think a lot of people just pretend to like it for one of two reasons:
To try to look 'hard' and 'cool' ( like Fonzie's nob  )
Similar thing happens in music like punk, metal, rap or anything no-conformist, 'evil' or against society. Suppose it's just part of growing up.
To try to look intellectual or 'special'
The old 'Emperors New Clothes' shit (ie. pretending to 'see' something others can't). Again, a similar thing happens in music like Modern Jazz, some types of Lo-Fi/IDM and experimental avant-garde. If this was a different forum then you would probably hear 'That John Cage's 4 minutes 33 seconds of silence is fukin' killaaaaaaah!' 
If you honestly - and i mean HONESTLY - like this stuff then you yourself will probably know the kind of people i am talking about - and if you are one of these people, in years to come you will no doubt look back and think 'Jesus, wasn't i a dick!' 
I know its a cliché but you do only live once and music can play such a big part in life so isn't it better to be true to yourself and listen to what you like instead of what you are told (or expected) to like. Life really is way too short.

instead of dissin people out that do not share your same taste, why don't you try to understand why they like instead? It seems you are trying to do so, but all you are really doing is making fun of them... us i mean... hmm ?
i listen from Lish to Derango and they are all brilliant in their own way... different spices make life more enjoyable

I think you got me wrong, Rah.
I wasn't making fun of dark-psy, in fact i don't think i even mentioned whether i liked it or not. I said at the start this isn't about whether it's good or bad. As you say different people have different tastes. I know there are people that think the music i like is total shit , and even though i would disagree i would respect their opinion and their tastes.
This isn't really about dark-psy at all (or any of the other types of music i mentioned - some of which I like) and it’s definitely not dissin it. This is about the way people follow others just to conform or make themselves look superior.
If you like this type of music then this thread isn't about you at all.
Your opinions are just as good as mine and i respect them.

I dont think random sqilches and squeaks makes 'dark-psy'. As u mentioned it all boils down to taste.
Today i find Ocelot's album to be 'darkish-happy'.
Same with Cosma's 'Nonstop' album. I thought it had a gloriously melancholy sound to it. Just teh feeling i got.
But both of them i wud consider to intelligent music too. There is a certain pattern i decipher and maybe ppl can understand a pattern behind the music i dont.

These days the names of styles seems to change every week. I meant the type of music that seems to sound (to me anyway) like someone is just throwing samples randomly into a sequencer or whatever. That wasn’t meant as dissin it, that’s just my description. To a lot of people this is dark-psy because it often has a very ‘dark’ menacing feel, to others this isn’t dark-psy - but that’s a different debate. If i had the space i could have called it ‘Do you REALLY like that kind of music that most people think sounds like a bunch of random squeaks and squeals and has a dark menacing feel to it’.
The interpretation of dark-psy aside, the specific music wasn't really the point of the thread. If this was a metal site it would have been 'Do you really like death metal' or whatever - it wasn't a personal dig.
Anyway, sorry if i was confusing.

why would you choose one type of music to say ppl pretend to like. couldn't that be said for all types of music not only "dark psy".
ppl make it sound like it's a bad word. should i be scared to use it when i am at a party. i didn't realize so many ppl hate it.
couldn't your comments be said about the whole trance seen in general. i mean ppl are always pretending to like something or someone they don't just to fit in, or in your words "look cool or intelligent".
you say don't be offended if you like dark psy, like ppl should be ashamed of what music they like it. come on.
isn't this dark psy topic geting a bit overdone now. i thinks it's cooked.

I honestly didn't write this thread to piss off people who genuinely like this music and that’s why I said not to be offended if you do. I used 'dark-psy' as an example because this is a psy forum and 'dark-psy' is seen (like it or not) as an extreme in psy.
If you want, forget 'dark-psy'. The whole point of the thread was not about mocking or dissin people who actually like this or any other type of music but about the way some people pretend to like certain types of music - either to fit in with their peers or try to make themselves look better than people who aren't their peers.
Say for instance someone liked (picking a group at random)... Backstreet Boys but he pretended to like (another at random) Eminem because all his mates like Eminem and if he admitted liking Backstreet Boys they may think (wrongly) that he was gay... and before you scan-read this post and get the wrong idea - i am NOT calling anyone gay or dissin gays or Eminem or ANYONE!  Or say someone liked, erm... the Crazy Frog ( ok, i am dissin that fucker ) but they told their high-brow collage friends they liked 19th century French classical music not to look stupid.
All i was trying to say is music can be an important part of life so isn't it better to not care what people think and listen to the music you like rather than look back later and regret it. If the music you like actually IS 'dark-psy' then good for you!
Anyway, all that toilet cleaner has given me the munchies so im off.

I think there are a LOT more people who 'like' boring cliche full-on because it's 'cool'. Really find it hard to believe that so many people can actually like it because most of it is just plain bad and cheesy music.
on a more serious note, 'dark' psy is not really 'cool' music. kinda like saying that people like IDM because it's 'cool' - after all it's just weird bleeps and screeches, so why would anyone like it?
