OMFG, again a new subgenre.
Also psytones has started to suffer from Compulsive Subgenre Creation Disorder.
Be careful, this disorder might be lurking within next psy track you'll hear and then there's no coming back. Your mind will be filled with incomprehensive subgenres and you have a compulsive need to share them with others. Apparently there is no easy cure for this. If you believe you have been infected please consult Pavel: http://forum.isratrance.com/psy-trance-rehab-center/

Somehow I don't think consulting Pavel would be the best idea... *snicker*

So it sounds to me like we're talking about far less aggressive full-on where the song flow is no longer "trance" like; flowing more like popular tracks. I guess a "muted" bassline where the leads take precedence would be another characteristic.
I don't think calling this another sub genre is effective music classification at all.
A track (that I actually like) which comes to mind is off of Perplex's new album:
Gigi D'Agostino-I'll Fly With You (Perplex vs Complex rmx)
Being a big fan of the original song, I can see where he went with this track. More than anything, it seems like he was trying to keep the absolute feel and flow of the original, and just boost it up with a higher BPM and better production so he can drop it on the dance floor; it doesn't sound like a complete PSYTRANCE transformation if that makes any sense.
I know the sound you guys are referring to, but it's just not worth classifying (yet). As of now, most of these tracks simply feel under produced, and if the artist put some more time into them, they often come out sounding "heavier" like more mainstream full-on. I guess it's the biproduct of Full-On becoming more and more mainstream and melodic; it has to hit the EXTREME (in this case not as good) before it can go back and find the balance.
But to be completely honest with you all, I don't think this music being Psychedelic or not is even in question. Psychedelic is more of a personal taste, so it's all up to what you think.
Personally, I'd say some of Paul Van Dyk's OOOOLD stuff (2003 and before, especially before 2000 though) is more psychedelic than most of the PSYTRANCE and GOATRANCE passed off as "super psychedelic" music.

How can any informed music lover make a blanket statement and say that an entire style of music is "BAD"????
That's horribly conceited if you feel that you can make that assessment yourself.
If people listen to it, then some people probably think it's good, and there's no way one person's point of view is any more or less valuable than another's.
There is GOOD MUSIC and BAD MUSIC in every genre.

Went to a party recently and heard a commical if not terrible remix of the track 'Space Man' by Babylon Zoo. This is I guess what you could call Psypop. Pretty goddamn awful stuff really, but maybe we shouldn't be so serious with our music. Artists like Cosmosis have experimented with this sound and whilst it might bring a smile/quizzical look to your face when spinning around a dance floor, it sure aint the kind of stuff I want to listen to at home .
