OK maybe this is bad, but when I am alone listening to some extra psychedelic twisted tunes I sometimes play it really load out the window to see the reaction of some strangers passing by. One time I was playing some reallyt groovy dub and these 2 hippies just stopped to listen and at the end shouted GOOD MUSIC !!! But its not always precisely positive, like the other day I was playing some Rinkadink and some senior couple was passing by and when the lady heard the music she just could not believe the music. Like I was playing something from the madhouse that is not supposed to exist. I admit it made me laugh. When I used to have a car I also did the same thing in the streets, you know pass by a place where your music is not even imagined and see all the reactions of strangers.

I admit sometimes its over sharing. I don't do it to often but I do get a kick out of doing it everynow and then, specially with an extra twisted tune its hard to resist. One time I had a mix and I saw how a young couple just stopped in the corner of the street and listened to the entire mix. I thought, now that is cool. I guess I should have invited them in my house, but they were on their way.. hehe

Ok I will stop, but am I the only one that sometimes does this?

Lol.. I guess you're not. Its fun giving people the music you listen to and see how they react, their opinions and the judgments they pass at you. I've got a lot of opinions from "I know you're into drugs" to "new age stuff..Blah.. buncha shit" to "craaazzy stuff.. who's that..PVD"? .. of course that is followed by a disapproving nod by me.

well to be honest I DO NOT at all,
especially when it comes to goa,

I always say
if you can love goa that much that you can hate it, then I think there exist people who hate goa die hard,

I even consider, but that's my personal vision, I don't see that as a general rule or other people have to do that, that when people visit your house I don't play goa, it can be so annoying music as background music if it's not your style and would be very selfish of me just putting it on because I like it, ok it's my house but I have time enough to listen to goa when I'm alone, it's thousand times better alone, I can put it louder and have the time to sense the music...

well that's how I see it and that's what you're topic is about,

but I respect you're way off course

Yeah I agree, you got to go with the flow of what fits to create a nice moment for the people you are with. And many times psy trance is simply out of the question.

But well I sometimes entertain myself watching some complete strangers in the street react to the music I play out my window at my house. The best reactions come from real music lovers who are just not aware that there is such crazy groovy and far out music like some tunes in psy trance but they can understand it enough to flip out about it in a good surprised way.

But I admit I also get a kick out of watching people try and make sense out of this music even though they are not necessarely enjoying it but are just captivated and absolutely surprised about how crazy, odd and different it is from anything they have ever heard. Like they thought they had heard it all.

But I try and keep the balance, I know it can be oversharing, and annoying. I don't get that far, and I only do this sometimes.
Anyways, I realize this overall may be kinda bad so I will probably stop. (Although there are reactions that are just good, its a cool moment for both.)

I do not really care if other people like my music taste or not.

What I never liked are those cars with pounding music going out of the windows so everybody can hear how cool their music taste is. I tend to respect my surroundings and keep my music taste in my personal sphere without trying to convert or annoy other people with it

Hehehe right on! You know, when I'm travelling to school I go by train and the trip takes about 15 minutes. I always have my discman on (with psytrance ofcourse) and people always look funny when they hear high pitched squeaky noises and hi-hats coming from the headphones... some people look at you approvingly because they like that music themselves, but mostly I get this look of: wtf are you listening to man!! hehehe           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. I play my music pretty loudly but only because I like it loud, not because I want everyone else to hear it. I'm also careful about when I go for the blast, simply because I don't like pissing people off on purpose. A couple of hours a day is fine in my eyes, more than that and I'll stick with headphones, irrespective of what I am playing. If someone says they like what they hear, then great. If not then I'm open to suggestions in the interim, particularly if it's a visitor to my home.

well.... I hear it loud at times.. only to get to that level of loudness to my ears. here.. from where I am, not too many people have the patience to appreciate it, if they did... would definitely give me that kick

I always love to share music (whether it's psy, goa, trance, classical, jazz, world)with people who are interested in it.

Heh, must have descended from Jubal.

I guess that's why some who like trance become DJs.

Sharing music is finding a common interest in the musicology of a piece or genre *with permission*.

Playing stuff out of the windows to people in the street or inappropriately loud so as to annoy my neighbours - I wouldn't do that, for me that's not sociable. Quite riightly I'd get an Anti-Social Behaviour Order to abate the noise.

Folks who come into house parties with music and insist everyone listen to it when it's crap are music bores and party-poopers, there's always one.

Walking around a quiet suburban neighborhood with a boom box blasting psytrance is more fun than a barrel full of monkeys!

How many monkeys would fit in a barrel? One young gorilla, and a few chimpanzees for padding?

I like to send psytrance/chill tracks to friends who normally don't listen to that stuff... sometimes one may find it interesting, and then ask me if I'm still into mushrooms, go figure.
Row row row your boats gently down the stream; merrily merrily merrily merrily life is but a dream.
