recently (now that i know what i'm doing) when i write tracks and play em back, i start to feel dizzy or tripped out.
a few tracks ago i kept thinking there was someone in my house, and the feeling stopped as soon as the music stopped.

anyone else out there get anything like that?

to much slipfffs and to much time in production make you head and ears very sensitive imo... (and trance its not only a style of music if you know what i mean ) Be careful with that take pauses relax your mind and ears .

SWIM used to 'trip test' their tracks when they were done by doing DMT to them. Trippy as fuck. Hearing with a new brain for real...            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

i know that well (while being completely sober btw). after stopping tweaking a specific part and sitting back, listening to the whole picture and flow with headphones and eyes closed, i am at times completely enveloped by the track, forget what i was trying to check and listen until the end of the track

I try to stay away from pretty much all 'rugs these days ... fingers burnt a little too hard perhaps, but they don't seem to agree too well with me when I hit them hard these days.

What I do enjoy however (and think makes my productions better) is to get a long way into a track, smoke enough bud to twist the music and revel in a clearer understanding of where the section I was struggling with should go.

Smoking more than that just makes me fucking twitchy and paranoid, which makes for interesting music, but I can't live with myself, so the cost is too high.           .

For some reason Seth I just can't imagine you being stoned, maybe because I quit smoking myself.

Sometimes I get caught in a loop of whatever I'm making, and I find myself listening to the same infinitesimal detail over and over and over. Generally this only happens with details I'm pleased with! And I agree, sometimes when I'm working on my own it feels like there's someone watching over my shoulder - this happens most when I'm mastering, as I rarely write on my own.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

Yesterday I was tweaking heavy twisted reverbed sounds. Suddenly I started having a weird feeling that I had heard, or experienced that kind of sound in some bad fever state. Like a flashback. That was hella weird.           http://soundcloud.com/mansikka

Oh yes! I trip my self out all the time when I am making music.
One thing I love to do is to put a fast bpm loop on, with drum and bass, make it trippy, hypnotic and minimalistic, then sit back and listen to the same loop for a very long time. Then after little or long a while (depending on my physical and mental state) I start going in to a trance.
This also happen a lot by accident when making music
This is pretty much the same thing that happens when you use a shaman drum or rattle.
I preferably don't use drugs, but if i do it will induce the trance much quicker, but I lose some control over the experience, without drugs it can be more relaxed and so.
We are energy made up of certain wave patterns, and when we are influenced by other patterns from the outside (like music) we start resonate with it. And the effect is a change in the state of consciousness.
nothing dangerous, but quite the opposite
