FL's peak control is nothing like that exist anywhere that i saw.
|
|
Well Elad, sorry to disappoint you, I know youre FL freak and all, but that peak controller is nothing special, only thing special about it is the name.. So u intrigued me cause your always talk about that peak controller so I take a look of what it does..
From what I saw, it nothing more than a trigger for a track, meaning, it raises amplitude of one track according to the amplitude of other track.. Its cool though, since u can put trigonometry functions in it and has built in LFO..

|
wrong
it takes amplitude of anything u put into it , and makes it A MIDI MESSEGE !!
so u can use it to trigger cutoff with your mouth too! u can link it to anything and use any source. only limit of it is in the mind of the one using it.
nothing like it anywhere i saw. maybe it exist tho im just one guy sure didnt see it all.
actualy , the easiest and most expected thing is to make it volume connected.
thinking out of the box , it does x200 more imo.
the example in this case , to sidechain the kick volume to the low shelf filter , and remover the sub freqs off when the kick hit. sounds better then compression unless u want the pumping effect. even for the pumping effect i would use it with volumes (oposite link) cause it sounds better then compression imo. www.sattelbattle.com

You could just automate the EQ |

^ Thats what I do. I could never get sidechaining to sound exactly how I wanted it to, so I just figured i'd do what I wanted with automation lines. |

^ Yeah only need to do it on a bar or maybe 8 bars and repeat it. Saves CPU as well. |

Right now i'm making some pretty darkpsy with the machinegun bassline, so i was tyring to cut the bass to make some room for the kick, so it's not "floating" on top.
am i crazy?
|
|
a) Yes you are crazy for making dark psy.
b) Don't worry about cutting the bass too much, there is no bottom end in dark psy tunes anyway.
c) Don't worry about mixing things together at all, dark psy is meant to sound shite anyway, cause that would involve the whole breaking of the rules trend, which is a must if you want to be taken seriously by other dark psy producers.

who ever said its ok to make the automation for the eq dont understand that its totaly not the same
when i do it with FL peak control , it will send diffrent midi messege to the eq or bass with evry diffrent kick (something extremly easy to change in FL too.. 1 click)
by automate it wont even response to the kick at all just fake to.. not good enough

02.Kindzadza (Osom Music/Russia)
---.Perfect Stranger (Iboga Records/Israel)
03.Derango (Parvati Records/Sweden)
hmm makes you think p&s ?
actualy i remember i sent some bass file and u said its thin while it was fat as sumo fighter. i reken u should chack your sub response in the room. i have feeling u got ultra thin soundsystem. maybe the problem is here. but on the dynaudio with acoustic room as well in other studio's and pa systems it translate pritty much 95% acurate imo. www.sattelbattle.com

Elad do you work for FL?
Also Dynaudio are known for being a poor choice for dance music due to their flabby bass response. |

Don't get all defensive Elad, I wasn't attacking your production skills. Its just some geeky internet humour, relax.
My Mackies HR824 go down to 37Hz flat. I compare any kind of music to stuff I know sounds fat and its not just subs that make a tune sound fat.
