Do you buy your CDs here in Greece??

Hey,people...I wonder how many of us really buy our cds and how many of us have alternative methods of getting music...
I heard lately that the biggest labels in our scene very rarely get over 1000 sales on each release in europe (!) and that Japan saves the situation with more sales...Also major labels are going,or,are already down...And this is sad...
(On the other hand i see new labels pop up like mushrooms!!What's going on??)
After downloading like a maniac for a year,three years ago,suddenly i felt like the whole spirit had gone.. Music and artists suddenly had no value at all..I had feel in to the trap of wanting to have everything that was out!Sometimes new music was coming to my hands faster than i could hear!!!The story was about quantity and no quality..
I realised that is much much better to have less but original and i also realised that i had to support the music scene that my life spins arround..
More or less i think that IF WE DON'T BUY OUR CDS THE SCENE WILL DIE..
I agree that cds should be cheeper so people can buy it easier and this could be a step from the label's side...
Dnlding is good for preview,but once you hear something u like,buy it..Or at least make small teams with 2-3 of your friends and "split" buying..This could be a step from our side.....

This is the standard argument about the illegal d/l problem. It is correct, of course, and I agree with you. I also buy the music I like (sometimes after previewing, depending on how much I trust the artist) because I want top quality music + I want to support the artist and the label for bringing out the music of my preference!
However, I think the previous way of thinking is a dead end. I mean, noizbox, me and many other people care about their favorite artists and the scene, but the majority of people just get their music the easiest way possible. Either burning cds from friends or downloading. Most guys simply don't care about your worries noizbox, so they will just keep downloading. There is simply no way that the downloading can stop. It will only increase, as the connections are getting better and better. So, labels and artist have to realize that the downloading problem is not a problem that can be fixed, its just a new parameter in the business of the music industry. They have to take it into account and find innovative ways of still releasing music in a profitable way.

I buy all of my music in original,no matter if this music is psy trance or progressive or pop music or even heavy metal.
I just cant stand music in MP3 format or even in a CD Copy.

CD copy has nothing to do with bad quality or stuff, since u copy digits that is y is called 'digital'... If u copy digits, there is no harm to the quality of the cd...
Im not a fan of the mp3 whole situation, but IMO this story will never end...

By the way CONGRATULATIONS Noizbox for your points of view on the Buying/Downloading subject.
Your 'splitting' idea is a very good one and helps the scene a lot though few people do it in our days,the very few that actually care of where this scene is heading at

i totally agree. i prefer to have lesser cd's but original ones! i usually buy from the net as Thessaloniki's music stores don't have much diversity in psy trance section. they only have mediocre compilations and artists who tend to be commercial...
So internet buying of original cd's is my best option

I buy original as frequent as I can but I also count on my friends for new music.mostly from psyshop but discobole also has nice pieces from times to times. |

i always have only originals
i would not like to release my music and everybody will copy it insted of getting my original that would immediately kill my efforts in music creation cos i would not have any money to involve in it and give better and better music cos whe have ti eat to and make some money for upgrading and getting new equipement if music cant give at least the basic to continue with it we will be forced to do something else so we can live
and iff we do an other job we wouldnt have much time to make some cos music needs devotion !!!!
thats my opinion for copied music and mp3s
aahh and dont never forget why the last night known djs music was so nice and fat cos he was playing with the originals in maximum quality not mp3s!!!!
i think you dont want to pay to listen to nice but bad quality music in your night outs eee???
