I should post samples actually, but maybe, maybe I could explain it by words.
What I mean is, in nearly every fullon track I notice kind of the same synth pattern.
It usually starts with one short synth stab on the offbeat, and then followed by another synth sound (sometimes s hort pulse stab).
The way they follow each other up, makes the whole song swing a little.
Then a few more synth sounds are added, usually some longer ones, and thown in the mix, it really creates an ongoing rhythm, where sounds rhytmically jump out and with a little variety on the sound placing here and there.
Many many of the fullon and also Progressive artists use this like Atomic Pulse (till bordemmness), Headroom, Zen Mechanics, Polaris and the list goes on.
The (in my opinion) better artists use more diverse and funky sounds. but it's still there, in nearly every track.
I wonder if we had a name for this, or am I just hearing those patterns in my head? |

Well, it's not a sound, it's a pattern or a variation on that pattern which I hear in many many many fullon, but also Progressive tracks. |

Forgot to mention about the reverse sounds.
Only it doesn't necessarily have to be a 303 sound, it's also very ofton just a short whatever synth stab.
I can't help it, but I somehow hear this or a variation on this pattern in nearly every single fullon track.
I'm trying to explain this to my friends, so they'll see how formulated lots of trance is, but they don't see (hear) it!
Although I think it's a very fun sort of theme to work with (see whoever can produce the most funky version), I think it's just tooooo overdone.
I was also thinking about something like what you said 'the cheese formula'  |

first its less formulated as presented in this forum.. there are 10000's of fullon tracks and they are not all sound the same , some is good , some is bad , some is averege , and some is genious... like any genre... some copycats and some original creative artists.
i concider my new sattel battle album (coming in 3 months) to be quite full-on-ish , but is not by any meening copy or repeat of anything.
anyhow to show your point u can take 2 hommega tracks and have one in left and one in right (with minor edits to even the breaks timing) and they will understand.
tried it randomly with domestic - big time and astrix & delirious - day dream ... 
and sure possible to do it with more.. withing any "square mind" label it will happen as labels buy formula's more then music
