hi there all!
Im have 2 pairs of monitors at my studio. a pair of EVENT TR 8 and a pair of DYNAUDIO BM8A.
Do u think that there will be problems with frequencies and/or phase when im using the 2 pairs at one time? they are standin on top of each other so there should not be any phaseproblem, right?
what do u think:)
thx all! |

hmm I dont think its a good idea to use 2 pairs of different monitors at the same time...simply cause they got a different frequency response and I think this would hide the real spectrum even more than just one pair of not total 100% flat monitors!
tough you got a great system for A-Bing your mixes, but I wouldnt place them on top of each other, cause to hear both from the best position you would have to move up and down all the time

if u have bm8a why would u want to use the event on the same time ?
i recomend to do this (what i gonna do here):
is to have a switch that u can simply use both seperate , not at the same time , yet u can switch whenever u want to ..
dont u think 4X8" units is too much ?

hey dudes!
thx for ur opinions!
@ elad: i thought about this, but the last money i invested was a uad-flexipack:)
i have the EVENTS on my mixers rec. out and the Dynaudio at the Monitor out. so i can "switch"!
but maybee the next investing:)
@ get-a-fix: did i say/write anything obout TC?
maybee u read again:) thx man:)
@mad scientist: the gap between them is omly a few centimeter, if u look at a bassamp or any other amp, they have 4 x 10" or bigger. itsnt it like that they just moving more air?
and if i use a frequency-separating filter?
thx u all for the comment!! |

If you want to play them at the same time sell them to someone who'll appreciate the quality of studio monitors and just go buy a loud stereo system and spend the leftover money on a synth or something.
Get a switch and use them for A/B comparisons.
Don't play them at the same time.

I did read correctly, didn't you know TC owns Dynaudio Acoustics?
I've never heard of Dynaudio BM8A, google didn't come up with anything either. Did you mean BM6A or BM12A?

never heard fo BM8A, (And if you have dynaudio first hand you usually know its TC )
What ever helps you produce better is allowed.
If you like it and create more balanced and accurate mixes, why not?
Accoustically, theoretically the different speakers of one side (left right) most probably are not in phase with each other, due to different crossoverfrequencies and possibly other stuff. So it is likely that some waves will kill each others, others multiply.. So theoretical its possible it will sound less linear.. but who knows.. that depends so many things
Maybe they even counterbalance each other.
And... how do you find the stereoimaging?
What speakers you really have?

hmm...dont really get your point about the bass amp
do you mean 4 monitors from 2 different brands are theoretically the same as a bass amp with 4 speakers?!
if so, its total nonsense! just read my post again and the one from scm
like I said, best thing you could do with your setup is to make an A-B system (what you got already)
but overall, please explain WHY would you want to run 4 monitors at the same time and how would you like to setup them? (i.e. stereo setup or kind of mini-surround setup)

@ subconsciousmind: thx for your reasonable comment, in opposite to some others....
im absolutly not interested in who owns dynaudio! ....and sorry..its BM6A:)
both monitors itself, the stereoimaging is accurate. when i turn up both its quiet the same.there is some differnence when im movong the sweepspot up and down. the only difference is that its more powerfull. i can turn the volume a bit down. but i dont think that its multiplying some deeper frequencies or earasing each other. |

i recently had my monitors destroyed and no longer have any.
use both pairs seperately in an A-B manner without them on top of each other or send me one pair!

@mad scientist:) no of course its not the same!
but what if it does not hide the real freq. spectrum, what if they amend themself?
>>"citation: So theoretical its possible it will sound less linear.. but who knows.. that depends so many things

most the time i do the A-B Setup, but im curios about all ur opinions about the possible effects.
