Artist use their music sometimes to shock people, like Punk music in the 70's... Rappers speak of murdering gangsta's while I'm pretty sure most of them never pulled a lethal trigger.
So also in Psytrance artist use shocking samples, wheter it be about drugs or something else, like the Devil. I don't see the point, especially since many people use Psychedelic drugs at parties...you don't wanna hear that shit while tripping right? At least I don't!!!
So I think it might just be a way of adding extra depth to an artist's work, like Britney Spears half-naked on the cover of her CD....

My opinion: I like dark and spooky trance but its really a bad trip when I hear in the middle of the party "Welcome to hell" or stuff like that.. But there will always be 2 sides, good and evil fighting against each other. Somebody will dedicate his music to good and somebody to evil. U decide which side to choose..

I say, who cares? Worrying about beliefs is like worrying whether someone is gay or not. I guess you can do that if you want, but personally, its none of my business!
On a side note, I think "devil worship" is kinda stupid, in one sense. A friend of mine loves metal, especially death metal and some of those guys claim to be Satanists, but at the same time they say they dont believe in God. But Satan was an angel right? So God made Satan, but there is no God? You see what I mean. It seems like they're satanists for the image.
But if thats what you really believe, and it gives you that warm feeling inside that comes only with faith, who's to call that bad? Maybe if they're sacrificing virgins on the dancefloor...
You cant have the light without the dark! The more traumatic, dark, difficult experiences you have the easier it is to handle next time, til after a while you get immune to it. its horror psytrance...
though i dont wanna go to a party were they play only haunted music... it kills the vibe...
hopefully this year 2009 we will see more diverse parties... mix it up!
btw this satan thing could be that there are alot of metal dudes comming to psytrance scene and make music... so they bring that deathmetal vibe with them...
in psytrance you can almost mix up anything, just aslong as its between 135 - 155 bpm and has a 4 on the floor kick and baseline ala trance style... just add some dist electric guitars and some rock drums ontop and some spooky pads and screams and there you go hehehe
In my opinion everything can belong in psytrance... its the most open genre there is when it comes to mixing up different elements... the bass and kick in 4/4 is what keeps it trance..
now what you like and prefere is a another question...
and about that everything has a light and dark side.. well, there is much in between.. you can make light music with a touch of dark.. and vice verse.. or you can put no feeling into religion or beliefs of dark and light and just make good music.. subjective of course.. or?

is much more relevant seeing as they have actually delved in Satanism and went pretty far as to murdering past members etc.
On topic:
I enjoy it, maybe coz of my metal background, but it adds some nice twists to the cheesey hippy full on vibes hehe.
Some of the suomi stuff can be pretty dark mood wise, and both "dark" psy and suomi can creat a good flow from midnight to sunrise
if you don;t like it go off the dance flooror don;t buy the cd

some parts can be nice and really musically but some parts are just banging stones to eachother... sure it probably feels good to just behave like a stone age person and go mad.... kind of delivering!
anyway not my kind of cup.. there exists much better metal in my opinion...
maybe people has a need to act like savages from time to time
